My cover band plays pretty much any kind of metal that has (relatively) clean singing. Meaning no black and very little death. It's honestly just me and the guitarist, we need to hire a couple of people if we want to play a show. We usually don't have enough to play a show.
We play covers from bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Accept, Manowar, Rage, Anthrax, and Exciter. We mostly just jam, but we've had one live show. Mostly because, like I said above, it's really just me (the singer) and my buddy Andrew (the guitarist).
Our first (and, so far only) setlist was:
Deathrider (Anthrax)
Bullet Train (Judas Priest)
Screams from the Gallows (Exciter)
The Departed (Sun Is Going Down) (Helloween)
Blood of My Enemies (Manowar)
Beat the Bastards (Accept)
Higher Than the Sky (Rage)
Heaven and Hell (Black Sabbath)
We had to fiddle with songs that had two guitar parts, but overall, I think the show turned out pretty well. The session musicians were great about showing up and putting on a good show. My voice was cracking a bit on high normal voice notes, and I forgot to warm up, so my falsetto wasn't so great, but I think I did pretty well overall. Andrew was the real star. He was all smiles, bouncing around the stage, and the only important fuckup he had was a screwup on the timing of the solo in the Accept song.

A session musician. We had to get two guys, one for the bass and one for the drums. That's why we generally can't play any shows; we usually barely have enough together to hire one.

I've been playing guitar for about 26 years now, and have played in a number of hardcore/punk bands. The biggest one was Pass Out Kings. We put out a couple records and played a hojillion shows in the 90's, but the best part was getting to share the stage with some really cool bands... Suicidal Tendencies, Bad Brains, NoMeansNo, Electric Frankenstein, Poison Idea..
