And the Schengen zone? how the fuck does that influence you guys?

And of course Saturnfan some Europeans share your sentiments. They are called Anders Behring Breivik, they are called Adolf Hitler.

Seriously you shouldn't be talking about things you have no freaking idea about. We let you have all the guns you want inside your country, let us have all the welfare we want in ours. What's your problem?

And really, I'm not going to start a EU vs US debate (specially since my country is the one who is at fault of the Euro zone crisis), but really? You are talking about global financial crisis and you look outside your borders? Goldman-Schacks (how the fuck it's spelled?) anyone?

Is it my fault someone brought immigration as a problem in a country which he doesn't live in? What does that sound to you? Specially on the conservative side. I can understand the liberal side caring about how immigrants are treated in different countries, but why the nationalists?

Because the financial crisis in Europe is one of the driving factors of the stock market crash here.

Spain and Italy are pretty much unable to pay back their loans right now, meaning that Spanish and Italian banks are losing money. Investors see this and pull out as soon as they can, meaning that stocks in those companies tank. Those banks then no longer have the funds to give out loans, meaning that companies, including those in the U.S., are unable to get those loans. This causes them to pull out any business they have in those countries, costing money and causing their stocks to fall. They then don't have the resources they would otherwise to support other companies in the U.S., which can make their stocks fall as well.

It's pretty much a vicious cycle and THAT is why your financial matters are so crucial over here.

No dude that's not what I meant, I understand how the global economy works, what I don't understand is why all the hate towards Europe? Did anyone in Europe wish the US to collapse financially because of Goldman-Schachs? (hint: no)

We do things differently. FFS I don't see anyone attacking the US for not raising its taxes. (at least on this forum. I know how much the economists like to bicker about it)

I am, just not publicly because yelling about this stuff never gets anyone anywhere.

My view: raise taxes, cut spending. Probably cut spending more so that people actually have some money left to keep our economy better than otherwise, but losing over a trillion dollars every year is NOT good.

I seem to recall the U.S. taking a lot of heat from over the pond when our housing bubble and junk bonds were the first major domino in the global economic crisis...

You have every right to complain about your home country. That's the foundation of democracy XD. Just don't attack other countries for issues inside them. Specially the ones that DON'T have any effect on your life personally.

I too couldn't care how America reduces it deficit. Cut health care? Raise taxes? I don't live there, I don't really want to live there (though San Francisco seems nice :D) so I don't have a voice in what happens on the inside.

But yeah, talk about the economy all you want. Just know Europe's problems are too complex for politicians to understand, let alone the journalists who just want to see others fail (I've been reading American, British and German news sites (respected ones) and if you take everyone's opinion as fact, then everyone's home country is better than the others and the others should follow their example......goooooood the STUPID hurts my brain. 1 solution for everyone, that sounds logical)

And @flamepanther we have a perfect phrase for that in Greek.

The times take twisted turns (it's used to say, don't be so sure of yourself, cause one day you'll be the one down XD)

So I should attack Brazil for taking measures to reduce poverty when that might risk it's economic boom?
