WTF?!?

Why would anyone who is not an American ever care about knowing all of the US states? They are not American!!!

Do Americans have any need to know the Australian states and territories? Canadian provinces and territories? Japanese prefectures? Chinese provinces? Can you accurately locate every province of China? If not, perhaps you suck at geography and are uneducated.

Or were you just trolling?

You're absolutely right. I wouldn't expect an American to know where Shropshire or Cheshire is on a map. But some people do know this kind of thing. I know where all the German Lander are, for example.

I'm American and I have a high school diploma, and I can't locate the 50 states, nor do I care to. But I will admit I know their names by heart because of the Fifty Nifty song.

EDIT: Even if I did, I wouldn't care to know 50 locations in another country, like China, unless I had a specific need to.
