Paper Mario (N64): I couldn't stand it at all. Is this supposed to get better?
Super Mario RPG (SNES): I made a deal with this game that I'll give it a fair shot, but I'm not a fan of really simplistic RPGs, so unless it just becomes awesome soon, I'll probably give up on it entirely.
We're Back (SNES): It's stupid and unplayable.
Power Rangers (SNES): A really simple beat em up that was too easy for me to bother finishing. Just got boring. It's not that bad, but that might be because I was expecting it to be downright awful.
Spyro the Dragon (PS1): I hadn't played this game since it first game out, so I wanted to try it out again. Just boring and unengaging. With so many better games on my to do list, this one sits very low.
Ocarina of Time (N64): Like SMRPG, I promised to give this another shot before making up my mind. I still might beat it, but with some other RPGs out there that I'm playing (FFIX, BoFIII), I'm not sure I'll have time to beat it before 2012.

Easy way to make me stop playing a game? Spring an unexpected, cheap boss fight on me without ever giving me the chance to save my game beforehand. Yes, that's right. Game designers are stupid assholes
It doesn't help that by this point in the game the story has gotten so convoluted that nothing makes sense and I've pretty much stopped caring

Oh hey, I forgot to update last month. Might aswell get it out of the way now!
3 games off the list since last time. Finished up Monster Hunter, which I was playing when I last posted. Mario Galaxy and Nemesis have both been beaten since too. Thoughts on all 3 are in the games beaten thread.
Loads of games onto the list though. Wario Land 2 I find boring and have just given up for now. I'll get through it eventually I guess. Wave Race, 1080 and Snowboard Kids are all new games that I played a little to try them out, but haven't gotten stuck into properly yet. Ninja Commando is an arcade game that is at Arcade difficulties, and I havent managed to get through it yet. Avenging Spirit I got stuck on, but I have the game suspended to try again later on my 3DS. Tony Hawk's is another game I got bored of fairly quickly. The gameplay seems a lot less polished than I remember from the series. Finally, Skyward Sword is bound to be beaten very very soon, as I've been playing it for hours on end daily since I got it last Friday, and think its getting towards the finale.
*Phew* That was some catch up

Can't help you on Paper Mario and Spyro, but I'll return to OoT soon, and SMRPG is kinda cute, so I don't mind watching my gf play, but as for me myself play, I'll pass.BoringSupreez wrote:Yep.o.pwuaioc wrote:SMRPG, Paper Mario, OoT, and Spyro?
Re: Games NOT beaten: 2011
Coming into the last month of the year, there are a few more I can add to my list of games I have given several hours to but have no intention of beating this year (or, in most cases, ever). I am excluding games that I only spent an hour or less with, as I don't feel I abandoned them so much as didn't really try...dsheinem wrote:Gradius III (Arcade). Fuck that game.
The games not beaten for 2011 (so far) are:
Amnesia: The Dark Descent - I just couldn't get into the story and didn't find the writing very compelling nor the atmosphere very scary.
Batman: Arkham Asylum - this, in my mind, is the most overrated game of this generation. I played about 1/3-1/2 of the game and was bored to tears despite the fact that I consider myself a Batman fan
Morrowind - This one is almost becoming an annual entry on this kind of list. I sunk a few hours in once again this year to give it another try, and just couldn't enjoy it.
Rage - I wanted to enjoy this, but buggy code of the PC version made it unplayable. Maybe when I am ready to revisit it next year everything will be patched up nicely. A real disappointment.
VVVVVVVVV - I like this game quite a bit (especially the music), but found the part where you have to control another character to be maddening. I ragequit.
Braid - This is a pretty game, but the boring gameplay and uninteresting writing made me not want to commit.
Borderlands - I actually enjoyed playing this with folks online, just never got around to finishing it. Perhaps I will before the sequel comes out.
Diablo - No good excuse on this one, despite having started a few hours of a game each of the last two years. I really do need to play it
Red Dead Redemption - One of these days I will get it through my head that Rockstar no longer makes fun games. Until then, I will keep buying their "mature" turds and being disappointed.
'Splosion Man - at some point the difficulty in this game began to outweigh the fun I was having with it.
Splatterhouse (2010) - The main incentive for beating the game is to unlock Splatterhouse 1-3. Unfortunately even this awesome bonus can't compel me to slog through this atrocious hack and slash. It reminds me of the horrible modern Golden Axe game, which I also couldn't bring myself to complete.
Metroid: Other M - one of these days I might go back to it, but I side with those who found this to be a disappointing entry in a previously flawless franchise.
Zillion - I did not like this game much at all, and the comparisons to Metorid are just not even close.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - I found the controls to be more frustration than they were worth, and plan to pick up the PS3 rerelease at some point.
Rayman - a TR feature that just didn't click with me, despite giving it a fair shot.
3D Dot Game Heroes - I liked this, but gave up quickly when I got stuck at one point/got distracted by something else. I'd probably play more if I were a bigger Zelda fan, which I am not...
there are a few more that I've sunk time into and plan to try and finish up next month when I have some free time...but none of these are on that list
Re: Games NOT beaten: 2011
Do it, you absolutely will not regret it. I couldn't play the PSP version either but playing this game with a Dualshock and PSN access makes the experience completely different. The HD Collection is worth every penny just for this game.dsheinem wrote:Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker - I found the controls to be more frustration than they were worth, and plan to pick up the PS3 rerelease at some point.
You should consider coming back to it sometime, truly a fantastic game. What part did you get stuck at?dsheinem wrote:3D Dot Game Heroes - I liked this, but gave up quickly when I got stuck at one point/got distracted by something else. Re: Games NOT beaten: 2011
Somewhere around dungeon 3 or 4 I think. I enjoyed the game but not enough to plow through whatever obstacle I had encountered. Some day, I do plan to finish it. Not this year, though.brunoafh wrote:You should consider coming back to it sometime, truly a fantastic game. I pick up 3D Dot every couple months and play through a dungeon or two. I adore that game, but I'm not in a rush to finish it. I just go at my own pace.

WWE'12
It really sucks that I dropped sixty dollars on this piece of shit. Worst wrestling game I have ever played. TWELVE freaking games and Yukes still can't get it right. Time for a new developer if you ask me. The counter/reversal system is garbage and everything is so random that you feel like you never have control over what happens in a match. The scripted events in the story mode make you feel like you have even less control over anything happening in the game. Plus, the prompts for activating these scripted events seem to pop up so randomly. They stripped down the gameplay so much from earlier Smackdown games I played on the PS 1 and PS 2 it's ridiculous. The AI goes back and forth from being dumb as shit to countering and reversing every damn move you do. No consistency whatsoever. Collision detection is off. I give this game a 1 out of 10. Utter garbage.
I'm thoroughly convinced that no modern game can ever do the sport justice
