Tankards stuff can be a little hard to find. Especially there early work. Where can I find Zombie Attack and Chemical Invasion without paying out so much? So far all I have is their special addition of B-Day.Ack wrote:Lately I've been listening to Tankard's Beast of Bourbon album. I do greatly enjoy their stuff, it's goes along great with beer.

Honestly, I just go to websites like YouTube and GrooveShark to hear a lot of their stuff. Sure, I don't have the convenience of a CD or MP3 to take with me, but while I'm at home working on my computer, it's nice to have in the background.

What are your other favorite NWOBHM bands my man? Don't leave out Diamond Head or there's gonna be a problem between you and I!Bootaaay wrote:Iron Maiden, without a shadow of a doubt my favourite metal band of all time - I love all varieties of metal though, I'll listen to anything from NWOBHM to Black Metal and everything in between. Also a big fan of Down and Opeth - I'm not that fond of Opeth's recent output (Still Life, ftw!), but they're great live, and that's why I love Down too - I've seen them 4 times now, and they've been fantastic each and every time.

Meh, MP3 isn't worth it because the quality is uber shit. Best thing you can do is just rip your CDs into lossless audio formats (such as .WAV). The more MB a song is, the higher the digital quality!Ack wrote:Honestly, I just go to websites like YouTube and GrooveShark to hear a lot of their stuff. Anyway, I must admit that I hardly listen to CDs nowadays. (I have a ton of 'em -- mostly bootlegs and reissues of rare albums) And instead, I mainly collect and listen to cassettes.
Oh yeah, and I also sometimes collect vinyl records (as long as they're not too expensive because those babies get a lot of hungry eyes!). However, I just recently got a brand new copy of Saxon's Denim and Leather for $7 (original pressing or at least the original label/distributor of the LP). So now all I need is a turntable... looks like it's time to auction my CD collection on eBay!

Lol, yeah Diamond Head are great, I also like Saxon, Witchfynde, Overdrive, Praying Mantis, Tygers of Pan Tang, Angel Witch, Quartz, Witchfinder General, etc, I'll listen to pretty much anything NWOBHM though. There were so many damn bands in the movement at that time and loads of bands that never really got any notice, but still fucking rocked. I love finding some old cassette or 7'' from some obscure NWOBHM band at my local record store, and love the fact that 20 years on I'm still finding awesome bands I'd never heard of before.Painkiller wrote:What are your other favorite NWOBHM bands my man? If you're going to go lossless, use FLAC. WAV is nothing but a waste of space.Painkiller wrote:Meh, MP3 isn't worth it because the quality is uber shit. Best thing you can do is just rip your CDs into lossless audio formats (such as .WAV). The more MB a song is, the higher the digital quality!
That said, humans can't hear the difference between 320kbps mp3 and FLAC. If you claim you can, you're a liar.
I still like my cds though... I'd love to get vinyl, but the initial cost for a decent sounding setup to play them seems crazy. I've contemplated grabbing a cheapo used turntable, but I'm kinda worried that a cheapo one might damage the LPs or something. Anyone knowledgeable want to give me some advice here?
