I haven't watched wrestling since WWE Smackdown! left for Sci-Fi (errr, SyFy) and I lack cable TV to watch everything else.

Can someone tell me how the (freaking) MIZ is doing as heavyweight/world champion?

As a follower since the WWWF days, I can understand why it was a good idea to push the guy (company yes-man, clean-cut looks, mainstream profile, youthful, good actor). But just like when Cena first won his heavyweight title, I just grimace at the thought (small size, annoying personality, limited tenure, limited skillset).
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Anyone watch the Royal Rumble?

I turned it off after watching Cena take out nearly every member of the New Nexus after being in the ring for like four seconds. Absolutely ridiculous. This is why I don't like Cena. I hate that superman crap they do with him. Nexus was eliminating people one after the other as they entered the ring and the announcers were going on and on about how there was no way they could lose with the 4 on 1 numbers advantage, then Cena hits the ring and takes them all out like a bunch of jobbers. All that build up for what?

Would have made more sense for Cena to maybe hold them off just long enough for someone else to get into the ring. They could have actually done that with Booker T and then Cena would have came in and they could have maybe held their own for a while, but that shit with Cena donning his red cape and just destroying new Nexus like they were nothing? Why have they built up Nexus for months as being this powerful force that uses numbers against their opponents when one guy can just come into the ring and kick their asses

Ugh, that's just stupid, shitty booking-but I'm sure all the 12 year olds and soccer moms in the crowd loved it

Did I miss anything good, as I couldn't stand to keep watching after that crap

I'm surprised Miz retained his Championship, especially against Randy Orton, and even more surprised Del Rio won the Rumble Match. Neither of those guys seem like Main-Event Wrestlemania material.

I'm quite happy to see Booker T back. I'm a huge WCW fan and have always been a fan of the 5 TIME! 5 TIME! 5 TIME WCW Champion. Kevin Nash, not so much. I was a big fan of his in his old WWF and WCW days. But he's just too old, slow in the ring, and injury prone to be doing it anymore. He's still got the mic skills and charisma, though. Make him a manager or an announcer at this point in his career.

I'm glad to see Edge retained his title. He DOES seem like Main-Event Wrestlemania material.

I'm very disappointed we didn't see Triple H's return at the Rumble.

not this year. they made it the "biggest" royal rumble. i hope the return of Kevin Nash and Booker T is the sign of more ex WCW wrestlers are coming to Wrestlemania. i know DDP has already been contacted to be the host for the "best" of Nitro DVD. i hope they get Sting somehow..

But isn't the whole point of what was wrong with WCW? They relied so heavily on their roster of legends, that they never really gave their younger talent any shot at the big storylines. Vince has always been good at experimenting with newer guys and characters, (I, for one, actually liked the Nexus arc this year - it was something different from 'Cena' and 'Taker..) I'd hate to see the WWE make the same mistake that WCW made..

But maybe that's what's wrong with pro wrestling these days - not enough interesting or original young superstars.. Anyway, that's my $0.02.

yep, that's what killed WCW. the only youngter they pushed back then was Goldberg. i believe their bringing in old WCW stars for Wrestlemania purpose only since it's going to be in Atlanta. there was even a rumor Goldberg might tag along, but i won't count on it. so WWE is still pushing the youngters like Miz and Alberto Del Rioooooooooooooooooo.. (who happen to won the rumble last night)
