Zork wrote:Hi I'm Zork, not like the old PC game. I decided to go ahead and register here because I've been a semi-regular on Racketboy's site and of course I like it. If Racket sees me he may recognize me from the SegaXtreme boards along with a few others, I left due to inactivity it seemed like the place was all but dead. So I come here because I like the general topic: Old School Gaming, but it's in General, not limited to Sega even though it's my favorite part, I won't lie. I'm hoping I can find a good nest of people here with some decent activity, it seems like everywhere I go to it's dead or dying.

I'd just like to make some friends here and discuss things we like. Thanks for reading this intro and I hope I have some good times here ahead of me.

Hey man -- nice to see you in here!
Yeah SX used to be the best, but then it died off, they insisted on redesigning for the worst and re-set everyone's password.
The password thing was the final straw -- it was too much work to get myself logged in again.
Not to mention all the old link to old posts no longer work.

Introduction...

Post by mcampellone »

Hey Guys -

I guess I have been on here for a little while now so I should probably take the time to introduce myself. My name's Mike, and I am a Southern Californian who transplanted to Alabama for my Govt. job (yeah, ALABAMA - so ALL I HAVE to do out here are Videogames! LOL)... I am 41, and I am a Systems Analyst.

I have been into gaming since the mid 70's, and I am a really crazy collector. I own just about every console that was released in the mainstream U.S. market (EXCEPT the PS2 and Wii - not yet!), and I have around 4500 games. I know, I am a total psycho when it comes to games. It engulfs a great deal of my personal life.

I take up several rooms in my home with games and systems, and it is a bit much. Now, with some of the better emulators out there, I am really thinking about getting rid of a lot of it, so time will tell.

I have really enjoyed this forum so far! And, I am very happy with my Saturn Mod Chip - makes life so easy, especially with all of the Japanese games.

For some reason, my absolute favorite genre of games is horror. I like games that you can pop onto the giant screen TV, turn on the surround sound, turn out all the lights, and have the living crap scared the hell out of you! I don't know why, but I love that! Some of the games I am currently playing are the Fatal Frame series, Silent Hill series, Clocktower series, the Suffering games - those kinds. The scarier the better. I love playing these over and over - they are always creepy!

Of course, I love more "normal" games too, like Guitar Hero I & II, God of War, H.A.L.O., etc. etc. - those kinds :)

Can anyone recommend any truly horrifying, ultra-scary games for any of the platforms?? I would like to try and find some that I haven't checked out yet...

Anyway, I have my main game room where all the fun happens. I posted about my game room in the Game Room Pictures section, but I still need to add the photos.

I am very happy to be participating in this forum, and I look forward to many great discussions!

Have a great day,

Mike
I collect ALL Sony Consoles, ALL Sega Consoles, XBox, ALL Nintendo, and TONS of some you probably never heard of! Game collecting - IT'S A SICKNESS! LOL...

Hello Everyone,

My name is Spencer. I am somewhat of a retro console and retro computer collector/user. The first console I used was an old Atari, the second, a Colecovision, the third, a NES. I was a "Nintendo Kid" The first computer I usedwas probably a vic 20. I started programming when I was about 12, and have been programming since...

I'm a computer engineer now, what exactly is a computer engineer? I develop both computer software, hardware, and mixes of the two. I've been doing a lot of high level development lately(C#, java, C++), but have plently of low level development experience(assembly language, microcontroller, asic, plc, embedded systems,etc). I develop on both linux and windows platforms, i've also done mac system 7/8 development. I have pre 90's system development experience, for computers like commodore 64, vic 20, commodore 128, TRS80, apple II, etc in both basic and assembler. I've developed everything from low level embedded code to full 3d games...

I've recently been interested in building a series of Compact Flash to old console cart interfaces. Primarily so i can box all my old classic system carts away and just keep 1 or 2 CF cards by the console system holding all my old game ROM images. It's too expensive and hard to get existing backup systems like Super Wildcard. Plus most of these older backup systems are clunky and utilize older technology when newer cheaper/higher density solutions exist(ie CF, USB, etc). I'm curious to know if there would be interest from anyone on here to purchase such a prebuilt system from me (professionally assembled product, fully working and ready to accept your CF memory cards with your backup cart images). If there is enough interest, I could build the following:

CF -> NES cart
CF -> SNES cart
CF -> N64 cart

CF -> sega master system
CF -> Sega Genesis/32X

CF -> Colecovision
CF -> Atari series

With Availability of 8 GB CF carts, it would be possible to hold your entire collection of games on one CF card. upon powerup of the console, custom code on the CF -> cart module will run giving the user a menu to select which game to play from the CF card via the controller. provisions for USB interface or cart read could also be added.

Thank You.

Hey everybody

I actually got to this site few days ago searching for some DC random stuff to read about. I remember this site from long time ago with it's Games that defined the --- lists but thought it never was updated, not that I ckecked. This time I did though, and got to see that racketboy had pretty much the same feelings about games (and SEGA) as I do. So it's a joy to read his articles and blog posts.

Anyways, I wont reveal my age (20) nor name (Borja) and will, of course, never tell that I'm from Spain.

Hope to visit the forum oftenly.

Cheers.
