The only thing I love about Quebec is the Nordiques sweater:

Oh yeah, the fallout of the WHA teams in the early 90's (Nords into Avs, Whalers into Canes, and Jets into Coyote+Ugly), with Oilers only left. The move to Colorado was justified as hockey is big there (man, I booed their pro and college team!), while the latter two are just stupid.

The Coyote ugly court case did drag out too long, and it setup an excuse for EXPANSION!, particularly in the Golden Triangle region outside of Toronto. I do hear some cynics saying that the NHL could add two team, than subtract 4 teams (30+2-4 = 28) -> using expansion fees to pay off owners to cut their own teams. And the ugly truth is that many hockey areas in the South have long-term leases.

But I do hope for more NHL teams in the North, going beyond "Make it Seven!"

Well, the Hurricanes did win the cup and gave us the Storm Squad:

Not a thing wrong with that.

Holy crap, the Thrashers signed Chris Chelios, who is 48.

I remember when he first signed with the Hawks. He played in the last game at Chicago Stadium, the "Remember the Roar" game.

Chris Chelios
Jeremy Roenick
Tony Amonte
Denis Savard
Gary Suter
*can't forget Sergi Krivokrasov

and Eddie Belfour in Goal

How they didn't win a Cup with that squad still mystifies me.

True, but like the TB Bolts, after the cup when the team is not winning much, the fans are gone - they are not true fans at all. The widow of Bill Davidson (former owner of the bolts, as well both Detroit NBA and WNBA teams) has no interest in keeping any of the teams, which will be sad for all fans.

Storm Squad, Ice Girls (for Dallas "North" Star), and Desert Dancers/Girls (Coyotes), or any intermission girlie dancing (not that I don't like sexy ladies), please don't turn a high-pace game into a testosterone-fill event.

NC has some very faithful fans, not as many as say, the Oilers, but still, we keep a pretty packed house.

I have never seen the Hurricanes as a great organization, until I seen the Storm Squad.

Of course, when Tampa won the cup things were BOOMING down here. Now that we can barely win 3 in a row, we're getting next to no attendance.

BTW Trade Deadline was today, any good deals anyone seen? I was personally hoping the Lightning would ship LeCasual instead of Halpern, but that's just my opinion.
