samesies! I still have a soft spot for Dragon Warrior. I got Final Fantasy soon after, and those two games sort of cemented what an RPG should be in my opinion. Which is why, to this day I still prefer 8bit/16bit RPG's and stay away from the 3D ones with voice acting, etc.

My first RPG was Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars for the SNES. I still have my original copy. Love that game. :)

Im with you. I was 8 or 9 when I got that. That one game Ill never get rid of. The memories of that are pure nostalgia. Even have the players guide still. I was young and needed it. :D That got me hooked on RPGs and ever since Ive been playing them. FF series are one of the best.

For me it was Final Fantasy 8, although you could count pokemon yellow if you want to split hairs. FF 8 is what got me turned on to the Genre and the FF series.

It would be Zelda: Link's Awakening if that counts. If not, then I can't remember which came first but it was either Mystic Quest (aka. FF Adventure/Seiken Densetsu) on GB or Illusion of Time (Gaia) on SNES. The first trad turn-based one I played was FFVII a good few years after, which really got me deep into the genre.

Panzer dragoon saga and magic knight rayearth... I was only 5 when I got a sega Saturn in 97' and for my birthday in 98' i got said games... It was also my first video game console unless you count me playing gex or street fighter on mu fathers 3DO.... Which he still claims is better than SNES or Genesis.... .... Anyway I got the saturn just as it was going out...Along with pretty much every game released in america in 98.... My friends who all still owned SNES or nintendo 64's at the time thought it was so cool... From that time on I was a sega boy... I played nohing but sega consoles until the dreamcast was discontinued and then bought a nintendo 64 on it's way out in 2001...=)

Pokemon on the GB. I still have the Pokemon Blue cart and the turquoise (bleh) Game Boy Color. I still play it once in awhile... but after I beat it I quickly fell in love with the FF series.

While I'm not 100% certain, I'd wager a guess that the original FF was the first one I played, probably when I was 4 or 5. Super Mario RPG must've also been pretty early, as I remember my mom buying it for my brother and I when it was new (for $70!), and I would've been 6 when that came out.
I'm known as ZebetiteGlitch or Zeza Von Thantos on other platforms.
