I don't think Toys R Us usually talks about their deals they have, they just change them on a weekly basis. That's what an Electronics Department manager explained to me. So, people at the store might know ... but it's usually stuff that is advertised at the last minute ... if at all... and it can also be store specific.

I had to make A LOT of trips to Toys R Us in the end days of GameCube.
Well looks like I will be stopping by saturday morning then.

Are you sure it is by one get one free? Or is it buy one get one 40% or 50% off? If it is buy one get one free than that will be one hell of a deal for a system that just launched. I'd be in for Ninja Gaiden and Tekken Tag Tournament 2!

I am just repeating what I was told. He said buy one get one free. I guess we will find out in two days.

Am I reading right that the VC games on the WiiU are currently only accessible in Wii mode?

I actually bought a deluxe model but it is still in the box. $450 was already a lot of money to spend on what is essentially a single game, for now. After seeing the first-hand reports of hard lock-ups and other crap, it made me realize that I am probably happy to go the rest of my life without this system. I'll still enjoy my Wii and older systems. I got my daughter Kirby's Epic Yarn for Christmas, and I am about to go play some Excitetruck.

Stopped by my local Wal-Mart today. They had 5 Deluxe and at least 2 Basic units.

It seems they were better prepared this time. It was a successful launch for sure. They are mostly out of stock around me in the north of Boston area but I did see a basic unit at TRU.
System launches.

Wii U - 400k sold in one week. Is this number US only or US/Canada or all of NA?

PS3 - 197k in two weeks in the US.

X360 - 326k in two weeks in the US.

Wii - 476k in two weeks in the US.

Those are the system launch numbers, not the past two weeks. That is what the Wii sold its first two weeks in the US. I'm willing to bet the Wii U actually outsold it unless they sold less than 76,000 of them in the second week.

Where are those numbers from? Xbox sold 750k on black friday week and PS3 sold 550k in roughly the same time frame.. From their own PRs mind you.. Both blew Wii out of the water.. Wii U had limited stock and 440k is a very good launch IMO.. Wii is pretty much saturated... I forsee both Xbox and PS3 closing in on Wii until both successors are announced..
