Re: RPG Progress Report
I haven't played VCIII, but VCII was pretty good. Maybe it helps that I played the handheld one first.

Lunar is pretty awesome so far, the fights are pretty rough for a 90s turn based JRPG. Just lost to these duo of dragon-dog thingies (kinda like those monsters at the end of the Ghost Buster movie) in the Volcano temple.

Saved Ox the other night in Breath of Fire.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - still fairly early in the game.

Started Persona 3 Portable on my Vita. Playing on maniac difficulty. So far so good. Completed the first section of Tartarus. 15 floors or so. The mini bosses took a few tries each. Just needed to devise the right strategy while dying the first time and then use that knowledge to defeat them the second round.
Also set my right analog stick to control camera in the dungeons instead of the L and R buttons. A very useful Vita feature.

I feel like VCII has a lot of cool ideas in it that get hampered by the limitations of the PSP. The new classes and the new way they handled unit promotion was pretty good, but the reuse of maps and the overall small size of maps lowers my enjoyment.Valkyrie-Favor wrote:I haven't played VCIII, but VCII was pretty good. Started playing Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia, found it for $15 last summer and just starting to play it.
3 Hours 34 minutes into it, was just captured by Tenba and was saved by Misha.
Game is pretty Linear so far, but im liking it, the Grathmeld system looks pretty cool, havent used it other than to make some missles.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I finished The Last Story last night, took about 29 hours considering I did a lot of the extra chapters.
+awesome innovative combat system
+great art direction
+nice character customization options
+decent OST with a few great tracks
+nice sense of humor at times
-pushes the Wii too hard, slowdown galore
-"meh" plot with too many draggy cutscenes
-way too easy overall, no really challenging bosses
I had fun for the most part. If you enjoy action-RPGs and have a Wii you should definitely give this a shot. It's an 8/10 IMO.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I haven't been posting in this thread lately but I guess NOW'S AS GOOD A TIME AS ANY TO SHARE MY PROGRESS:
Final Fantasy XI - GRINDING FOREVER. I'm trying to level up the Ninja job since apparently it's a really good subjob to use for Red Mage when soloing. AND I'VE BEEN SOLOING MOST OF THE TIME. I can't wait until I beat the main story and PUT THIS GAME BACK ON THE SHELF... but I also want to keep leveling up my Cooking skill ALL THE WAY TO 100. I only need to gain two more levels as a Red Mage before I'll be able to take the mission to get Rank 4. And then it's only TWO MORE RANK-UPS to victory! I think.
Final Fantasy Tactics - GRINDING WAY MORE THAN I PROBABLY SHOULD BE. It took me a while to figure this game out, but now I think I'm doing PRETTY OKAY. I don't really have a solid plan for what classes my troops should be, and I'm a bit annoyed that I can only use a handful of guys in battle at a time, but I like LEARNING SKILLZ.
I'm currently in Chapter 2, on my way to rescue a princess I think? I don't really get the storyline of this game!
The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road - this game is pretty lightweight, but I'm enjoying it. It's uneven in how it sometimes feels like a "beginner" RPG and at other times requires a fair amount of grinding and some strategy. But it's fun! I'm in the land of Holly, the Autumn Witch and I like the Halloween-esque atmosphere. It's also interesting how the witches are pretty obviously not bad guys, even though you have to fight them. I'm assuming Oz ends up being the final boss and I'm curious to see how that plays out.
