EDIT: Please don't misconstrue this as provocation to "prove you are smart" or something like that - that isn't what this is about. I just think I have a better sense of how people understand the world when I know something about how they were trained to evaluate it.
I don't have credentials. I am a normal rational human being capable of thinking for myself.

I seek the truth and I also care about helping everyone. I like to step back, look at the big picture, find the truth and then make the best decision I can.

In other words, I am like George Carlin. The only difference is that I will actually try to improve things, instead of enjoying watching the world fall apart. I believe that education is the best way of doing this, which explains why I can be so adamant about important topics like this.

Also, I am well aware that what I do is ultimately pointless and things are just going to keep getting worse. "No good deed goes unpunished" is the story of my life, but I decided to keep at it anyway. You can hate me and think I'm an asshole, but I will continue to do what I can to help you and everyone else.

At the very least, I get people to think a little bit about some of the world's bullshit.

Sure, but you must have learned how to do so somewhere along the line. Are you self-educated? Did you get a degree in something? Do you work in a field that would give you more insight than the "normal rational human being"?

A great standard to aspire to. :D My all time favorite comedian.
The only difference is that I will actually try to improve things, instead of enjoying watching the world fall apart.
Oh. It is sad to see you don't really get Carlin and his work at all :( That's most certainly not what he did.
I believe that education is the best way of doing this, which explains why I can be so adamant about important topics like this.
Ok, so what kind of education do you value?
At the very least, I get people to think a little bit about some of the world's bullshit.
Cool. Do you have an outlet to do this professionally?

If your statements were actually thought provoking. Usually they are just you trying to pass your beliefs as truths for the sake of you thinking they are true without backing them up with any logical or rational thinking or basis to your conclusions. Therefore, the only people you get are the ones who already agree with you an you just frustrate those who don't.

I strongly disagree with you, and I have to wonder how much time you've actually spent in these "debate threads" here on the forums. Our ability to have civil discussion on topics that turn many other forums into a frenzy of name-calling, meme-posting, and permbanning is exactly what makes this forum stand out.
Plenty thanks. Been here for a few years now. Do more observing than posting. I'm a member of other forums (bunny related actually) that manage to have much more civil discussions about topics such as these. I would say these forums are better by comparison to other video game forums, but not very good at all. Before I get too involved here though, I'm out. Have a research paper I need to start and finish by tomorrow.

I'd love to read bunny-related posts about EULAs and TOS agreements  In any case, I should have specified that I am comparing us to other gaming boards, not all internet boards on any subject ever.

It doesn't matter. Regardless of school and/or work, this is how I would think.
Oh. It is sad to see you don't really get Carlin and his work at all :( That's most certainly not what he did.
I disagree. I've seen all of his HBO specials, listened to a ton of his audio work and I've read 2 of his 3 books. I've also seen a video interview where he talked about this subject in particular.
Ok, so what kind of education do you value?
Anything that either teaches the truth, or teaches people to think for themselves.
Cool. Do you have an outlet to do this professionally?
No. I just talk about this stuff with everyone I'm with in real life, and on the internet. I don't have a talk show or anything like that.

I know it is how you think, I am just trying to understand why. Who taught or influenced you how to think this way?

Two of his three books? I have six Carlin books on my shelf, and have read them all. I don't want to get into a "bigger fan" pissing contest, but Carlin was not just "enjoying watching the world fall apart." He understood that comedy can change people's ways of thinking and (potentially) lead to positive changes. He saw comedy as a coping mechanism and as a way to educate, not just something to laughs by pissing and moaning about life.

EDIT: I have five books by him, not six. One is about him.

So you believe the point of education is to teach people to come to understand some "capital T" Truth?

There are other ways to raise awareness in a professional capacity, if that is what you are truly passionate about.

Haha! Yeah, nothing about EULAs specifically. Closest I could find:

Internet Censorship: http://www.binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/5 ... fault.aspx
"Talk like a pirate day": http://www.binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/5 ... fault.aspx
Bunny binky:
(^there's a PS3 in the video....)

I more meant political and ethical topics.

George Carlin and Tom Leykis helped validate me, but I was like this before discovering them. They are important to me, because they remind me of myself. No bullshit, just telling it like it is.

I thought he only wrote 3 books. My mistake.

That, and teaching people to think for themselves. As Carlin said, it's important to question authority.

This is why racketboy's forum is the only one I've ever joined.

Yes, how dare people try to maintain some ownership over the things they produce.
It's that they go too far, not that they do it at all.

I don't think copyright is a right. To claim ownership of something like a drawing seems strange too me. It's owning something nonphysical. It's an idea. Ideas are nearly impossible to control after others have seen or heard them.

I don't think it's all bad that companies and individuals are granted some rights regarding their works, but the rights should not be viewed as basic human rights. The "rights" should be thought of as a contrivance put in place by the government to create just enough incentive for companies to produce something.

Currently, copyright provides more incentive than it needs too. It's too long. Anti-circumvention provisions are excessive. It gives too much control over derivative works.

All my opinion of course.
