Well good choice with In the Nightside Eclipse. It's one of the most critically-acclaimed black metal albums of all time, and one of my favorites. The production is fantastic, it's like an all-engulfing storm. I don't really care for much post-Nightside Emperor though, which is when the band started focusing on technicality more than atmosphere. Emperor's pre-Nightside material is decent enough, of you can get past the shitty recording quality.GSZX1337 wrote: Yep again, I never really got into Black Metal before so Emperor's first full length is my "new shit".
Satyricon was a great band too, their first three full-lengths are genre classics, as is the Enslaved split. Avoid the newer material though, it's absolute garbage.
