Reading this (unintentionally) hilarious old article in Nintendo Power where they try to clarify some of the confusion caused by video game titles. But all they end up doing is making things more confusing.

For starters, games not on Nintendo systems are ignored. Thus Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts becomes a direct sequel to Ghosts 'n Goblins. And so on.

And then you have their list of Final Fantasy games...

Dear lord!

Some mention of SaGa or Seiken Densetsu or the Japan-only Final Fantasy games would have been helpful, but nope!

I can't be the only one who owned both Final Fantasy Adventure and Secret of Mana for years before realizing they were related games. Thankfully we have the internet now to sort this thing out.

They didn't want you to know those GB "FF" games were poached from other series by Square. Which is why not only that revelation blew my mind, but FF "2" was 4 and "3" was 6. Nintendo never bothered to tell you that either. It was only when FF7 came out was the truth revealed.

Well it doesn't help that Sword of Mana is a remake of FFA(which I have FFA and used to own sword and the resemblence is uncanny but I think I perfer the story telling in sword than in the original...)

Though with final fantasy names I got confused trying to figure out which was which with the US releases literally gave myself several headaches trying to figure that one out....

On another note: I think I remembered another reason why I haven't been using my SP...even after opening it up and trying to clean it up as I replaced that speaker I still didn't fix the left shoulder button. So DK King of Swing(which just mysteriously turned up in my room) is not a good idea to play on it....tried it for like 5 minutes and that is a pain on that thing....

Dishonored has a lot more difficulty to it than I had been led to believe. Trying to stay covert is actually hard, and getting into a battle generally means my death. The difficulty of figuring out the safest way to a destination is also interesting.

Though I don't really know why the guards automatically know who you are in some cases. Like a mission involving a brothel... is it so weird for me to just waltz into a cathouse for a little sugar? I mean shit.

It seems like every new game these days is either a zombie post-apocalypse game, a Tolkien wannabe game, a spaceships in space game, a military shooty man game, a retro regurgitation, or a maybe-a-joke-but-not-quite-sure simulator. I'm dying for some original settings.
