Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I think I need to play Silent Hill 2. I've been avoiding reviews/videos/articles on it for years in case of spoilers.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
huh? I thought the PS2 game was Half-Life AND the side story as a bonus. Much like Blue Shift was originally the bonus for the DC port.fastbilly1 wrote: Half Life is a different game though. It is a side story featuring what happens to the other two scientist with HEV suits.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Half Life: Decay - the two-player cooperative game you mention above - was a PS2 exclusive, but the disc contains the original Half-Life as well. To my knowledge, the only other console port of the original Half-Life was the DC port...and that never received an official release.fastbilly1 wrote:NOLF, Q3, UT, and Red Faction are all better on the PC. Tribes Aerial is a very unique consoley version of the series, while Serious Sam Next is a PS2/GC exclusive and a whole boatload of fun.
Also, I completely forgot that Serious Sam: TNE was ported to the Gamecube. I have read that the PS2 version is better, however. (I updated my post to reflect this fact, and I also noted that Quake III was available on the DC too.)

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yall are right, I forgot Decay had both.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Black is a good PS2 FPS.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Years ago there was a rumor about Black 2, the engine would allow you to literally level the entire stage after you blew everything up. I was so excited and then it never happened.TSTR wrote:Black is a good PS2 FPS.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
FPS talk woo hoo!
From a Gamecube standpoint, anyway. I'll get them one day.
NOLF is a serious I really need to consider. I've just forgotten about it.
Is Serious Sam NE a totally different game than First/Second Encounter? It's definitely affordable enough (around $10 CIB for GC)
Dredd vs. Death is on the PS2. Played that on the PC earlier this year, it's serviceable.
Better.ZeroAX wrote:I've heard great expensive things about Timesplitters.
Hey now, I've done some FPS on the Gamecube, it's not that bad. Quake III and Unreal on DC are great with the keyboard and mouse.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Half-Life (also available on the DC...kind of)
No One Lives Forever
Quake III: Revolution (also available on the DC)
Red Faction
Serious Sam: Next Encounter (also available on the GC)
Tribes: Aerial Assault
Unreal Tournament (also available on the DC)

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
It (along with Black) are also on the Xbox...which I consider to be the best console of its generation for FPS games. The PS2 did receive a few interesting console-exclusive FPS games, however, but other than Killzone - which was ported to the PS3 - and the original TimeSplitters, I don't think it received any true FPS exclusives. Am I missing anything?ExedExes wrote:Dredd vs. Death is on the PS2. Played that on the PC earlier this year, it's serviceable.

Tribes: Aerial Assault
NRA Gun Club
Stealth Force: The War on Terror
WWII: Soldier
PS2 and Windows only includes:
Daemon Summoner
Iron Storm
SAS Anti-Terror Force
Stealth Force 2
Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior
No One Lives Forever also came out on the PS2 and for Windows and OS X.
Medal of Honor: Vanguard came out for PS2 and Wii.
Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force came out on PS2, Windows, OS X, etc.
Note that this is not necessarily a mark on quality.

There's Cold Winter and then there are some console exclusives like Warhammer Fire Warrior...think a few others, but those are off the top of my head.prfsnl_gmr wrote:It (along with Black) are also on the Xbox...which I consider to be the best console of its generation for FPS games.
