Forgot about that. May just have to take the kid to the mall once or twice next week and take a long time there walking it back and forward, and then get a meal and squat in a spot where I know a table hits 2 spots. Stock up like crazy. Like I said before that mall has like a dozen stops in it.

Big weekend here.

You see right, at one time I was in *12* gyms.

As a result, on Saturday and Sunday I was able to collect the 10-capped bonus. But some of the holiday tourists have tore up Valor Road so I lost 2 gyms there (still in 2 out of 5 there).

Get your free incubators this week! Also check out the bundle packages in the shop!

I have precious little to report, I'm afraid.

Went out for my weekly walk yesterday. Acquired two new 10k eggs. They have not hatched yet. Picked up a six Gym bonus while I was out and was shocked to discover that I was still in 5 of them this morning. That was a big improvement since I was down to two earlier. Thought people were too busy this weekend or the cold scared off all the weak Floridians. Drove by today. Turns out the one Gym that I kicked Valor out of yesterday was reinforced to LVL 7 by Mystic and I'm still Gym Leader. That works too, I guess

I lost one of my long-standing Gyms last week (a Catholic Church). Tried to get back in a couple days later, but the other two teams seemed to be fighting over it. Boo. Went back today and it was back up to LVL 8. So I leveled that sucker back up to 9 (What a pain. Is anyone else having trouble with slowdowns in Gym Battles? I know I am.), so I could try to keep a defender in there for a couple days. That side of town seems to be very Blue heavy, so here's hoping *crosses fingers*.

Oh, I did hatch a Pichu this week. Cute little bugger.

I also came across an Instinct Gym with a Cleffa and Elekid. So now my Pokedex goes all the way to 239 and my OCD is only slightly perturbed by all the blank spaces I can't fill in yet

Pokedex: 130 Caught/ 144 Seen

I hope everyone is having a nice, productive holiday and you've caught many a Santachu.

Not much here. Today I finally got enough candy and ticked off a really wicked upper 1700s cp Venasaur...and finally got the last 4 candies (barely) for my first Golduck which has about an 80% arc to it, need to work that one up a bit and got another psyduck to rank some month down the road.

Squirtles are in favor, got a few today and that got me a second wartortle. I was going to get a blastoise but I got an amazing level one higher in CP than the existing(squirtle) and when I bumped that one up he's just over 1000 so that'll be a very nice update later too.

For the event they claim started I'm not seeing a huge massive improvement they tout of having the starters. I've had maybe double the squirtle and bulbasaur and not one damn charmander still which is pissing me off. I'm at 89 candies on my charmeleon and at this level and arc (it's nearly full, needs 3500 or 4k to cash in again) it just needs to evolve already.

Oh finally a non crap diglett fell into my hands because of an egg, that was cool, it's not amazing but it's a solid B+ quality wise.

I got another one of the Gen 2's, an Igglybuff. 10km egg and a number of 5kms that will be mine tomorrow (the 5kms, not the 10km yet). I also found an all star Snorlax with 14's across the board, but only 749CP. I'm not finding a lot of the starters yet, but after all the time I sunk in gyms the past few weeks, I suppose it will be back to catches because I drained all my super potions and a number of hypers training against a Snorlax and Lapras multiple times in accomplishing the biggest Pokémon Go(al) of this year.

Becoming the leader of a Level 10 gym. After missing out on a gym opportunity yesterday that had the highest possible level of prestige at 68000 (that's someone dropping in 1 Pokémon and then training it solo up to level 10, 50000 + 9 Pokémon drops at 2000 each = 68000, the kind of tenacity found on Team Valor!) this one has been Valor for as long as I can remember, occasionally losing a level or two, but the only way I lose this one is for a complete takedown. I hope this will be my next 58 day gym. That Flareon I put back in September is still there, and will cross over into the new year. That now makes 11 gyms, and I grabbed one of those new Silver Boxes that had 8 Incense, 8 Lucky Eggs, and 8 Lure Modules at a significant savings. That's probably the best deal in the shop now.

Other than that, the best way to stop the gym battle slowdown (as Michi mentioned earlier) is to just restart the app; while doing the training required to get into the level 10 gym, I let it go without a restart too long and as a result while the app froze I lost the last 2-3 battlers on my team without even seeing any action pass, resulting in extra revives/potions needing to be used.

Finally, thanks to all the regulars and even those who poked their head in to see what this latest mobile game craze was all about. I expect bigger and better things from Niantic in 2017 and with their track history, it will be one heck of a ride, but all things aside, I rarely create new threads here on Racketboy. Outside of the Nintendo portable gaming thread, this has been by far my most successful. Thank you all trainers on all teams, even if you're not on the best team, for coming by and sharing all your experiences with Pokémon Go in 2016. Don't stop playing, and may all your catches be something you need and something you didn't waste 50 ultra balls on that was under 500CP.

Those who stand behind us, we shall protect!
Those who stand beside us, we show respect!
Those who stand against us, we’ll give them hell!
We are Team Valor,
Remember us well!

Finally caught a ditto.

Last week we were at a community event and I saw the signs of others playing. So we got to chatting and it turns out that they are playing like I am, more akin to Golf. They marveled at my level 22 Beedrill and level 13 Pidgeotto.

Still no Ditto for me. Did evolve my first Gyrados, bite and hydro pump, though I need to beef up his CP some as he's only at 1900.

Anyone else find it ridiculous how hard it is to catch the starter Pokemon? I don't mean to find, but to catch. Dark orange rings even for fancy Pokeballs. And they aren't really all that good even when you've evolved them all the way.

Example from today. 566 CP Squirtle. Berry + ultraball = fail. Berry + ultraball = fail. Berry + ultraball = fail. Runs away. WTF? WTFH? Screw you, Niantic.

I have not seen a ditto since the days into it showing up where 3 showed up and two were awful and the best was maybe a B- in quality so I kept it.

You're right about the starters being a pain. Nothing works other than the knowns. Put some spin on the ball, release when the circle is smallest, and head for the center as it all adds a few extra % to the catch chance. If one is determined to run off, you're just screwed as it's pretty much a sure thing as the game is designed to milk your totals lower to maybe fear some into buying extras who aren't mass pokestop ready.

I'm happy to have finally been able to nail down on the first a Charizard and a Vensaur, but I'm stuck now with two Wartotles and they're not close. At least squirtle shows up some around here second to bulbasaur but charmanders are like once in a couple months which sucks so the one I have is basically it probably.

Oh and I got another aerodactyl and nicer than the first. ;)

Yeah, catching the starters has been a pain.

Made some nice progress in the last week or so though. Evolved my first Machamp, caught some more Abras and Vulpix towards evolving Alakazam and Ninetales, and hatched a Grimer, bringing me more than half way to Muk. I'm also one buddy candy away from adding Omastar to my pokédex.

I'm at 125+ candies on both Bulbasaur and Charmander now, meaning I can get Charizard and Venusaur off the list too. I'm just holding out to see if I find any with better stats before the event ends.

Did anyone have any luck on the christmas egg event? I hatched 2 Magbys, but none of the other 16 or so eggs I hatched contained any of the new babies. Was really ticked off by that, what a waste of time. Really annoying that the only 2 I found were the same pokémon too.

Here's my remaining list (minus the region exclusives, because they're not realistic to obtain):
Ninetales
Alakazam
Muk
Lickitung
Chansey
Snorlax
Dragonite
Pichu
Igglybuff
Cleffa
Togepi
Togetic
Smoochum
Elekid

I got zero gen2 stuff at all in eggs. I hope they weren't limited and that was just a start date or I got screwed. All those daily incubators I threw at anything in my inventory to clear it out and let it cycle so I know I wasn't just popping gen1 only eggs.

I did get a Machamp recently too, don't think I mentioned that as I got another machop with a nice candy push with it vs some I already had from 2 garbage ones I had located in the past. As far as the starters go, 2 days more on that, and hoping after that point the charmander doesn't fall as far back as it was to like one every couple months as that's just not cool as the others pop up around here.
