Yes indeed it was! Afterwards numerous games took up the mantel. I wish we had more of that now a days, I am not gonna lie because I very much enjoy that art style. Plus, as we have seen with WindWaker HD, it can look gorgeous.

Very cool. I always figured JGR was ONE OF the first, but didn't realize it was THEE first. That's awesome.

I'm also a big fan of the style. I adore the look of Wind Waker (SD) as well.

I think that was one of the biggest reasons as to why I love the Dreamcast. The visual styles varied so much in the games. You can look at the grittier games like the Resident Evil's, the Typing of the Deads and then turn and look at the colorful, psychadelic art designs of games like Samba De Amigo and Jet Grind Radio. There was nothing holding it back during a crazy time in game development. I attribute the Dreamcast to being the transition from the 70's to the 80's in film. Just a lot of experimentation and crazy ideas.

When did Slap Happy Rhythm Busters get released? It came out right around the same time as Jet Grind.

They were both released on the same day in Japan supposedly. June 29th, 2000

Then it gets down to which one shipped first. Come now BMF, you must have shipping data from 14 years ago!

I know! Puzzle Fighter is up high in my Top 10 of all time games. I've played every version I know of tons - except for the PC and PSP I think. In the past, I had played it on DC and adored it, but it was the fan translation, so I'm thrilled to finally own the legit release.
