Thoughts on the Game(s)

I utterly loved this game, so stylish. If there is ever a game that proves the point that video games are art, it is this one.

It is kind of a mix up of an old school point and click adventure game, with a mix of Professor Layton style puzzles, there is no speech in game, the story is told in pictographs.

Utterly BRILLIANT!

I hope to see a physical copy cheaper than $30, as a fan of point and click adventure games, it is one I would love to have in the collection.
I agree. From what I've played, it's a very neat little point-and-click. I like how the hint giving thing is set up too, with the little minigame that seems impossible until you find out you can shoot.
Gaming accomplishments:
Nibbler (marathon): 251,169,160 / Nibbler (one life): 5,263,360 (WR)
Donkey Kong: 423,100 [L12-1] (150th place as of 2019-01-15)
Super Smash Bros. (N64): Ranked top 5 in Wisconsin from Q1 2016 to Q2 2017
Shrek SuperSlam: won largest tournament in game's history (Shrekfest 2018)

Terranigma (SNES)
Silent Hill (Playstation)
Soul Calibur (Dreamcast)
Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (Gamecube)
Keio Flying Squadron (Sega CD)

Pretty happy about that last one. I had to use a few continues, but overall, the game was always just hard enough. I really enjoyed the wackiness, especially the fact that the enemies were raccoons!
Anyway, off to the next game. I erased my VMU by accident, so I have to start THPS from scratch.

I was always a Street Fighter kid growing up, but I definitely played Mortal Kombat whenever I got the chance. I still remember the feeling of playing an MK cabinet in an arcade, and I haven't played a Mortal Kombat game that has given me that sense of nostalgia again until popping the new Mortal Kombat into my PS3.

Everything about this game just feels right. It even has that "creepy" vibe that the original games had, and it really helps to make a great game better in this case. Definitely worth picking up if you have any interest in fighting games at all.

One last thing, Shao Kahn is a jerkface in this game. I don't even know how many times it took me to beat him, but I nearly jumped off the couch in excitement when I did.

04/16: Genji: Dawn of the Samurai (PS2)
05/05: Beautiful Escape: Dungeoneer (PC)
05/11: Chef Boyardee's... Barkley: Shut Up and Jam Gaiden

If you have a strange sense of humor, this is the game for you. Hands down, this is the funniest game I have ever played. It's an RPG in the vain of Final Fantasy VI, but in a crazy world where basketball has been outlawed and it is up to Charles Barkley to bring the world back to the glory days of slams and jams. I really love this game and think more people should play it just to experience the absolute lunacy of it. Not only is the main gag funny, but there is tons of hilarious dialogue with in-jokes about JRPGs and basketball-- two things that don't go together, but lead to comedy magic in this game. Really, if you like RPGs, or basketball, or both, then it's worth your time.

Oh, and did I mention that it's free?

sega-16 call calls the game a "cute 'em up." it is so cute, in fact, it looks like a kids game. considering extra lives are everywhere in the game and i beat it on my first serious play through, it probably WAS intended for kids. but that doesn't make it a bad game. i enjoyed it, but i definitely wouldn't recommend it to all the shmup ballers on the site.

one thing that makes it stand out from all the other shmups i played is the ability to control the direction you fire. but, the game doesn't really have too many enemies on screen at once so it really isn't too crucial to master this.
if you took a shit, please put it back

I don't think I'll be obsessively keeping track of what I'm beating with lists like you guys, lol, but I just finally wrapped up Oracle of Ages directly after Seasons, so I had some of the extra stuff there at the end. Not a bad game at all, though I think Seasons/Awakening are a good bit better personally. The weaker one of the classic handheld Zelda's for me.

Now time to for DX!

All this talk of the new Soul Calibur had me itching to dig out one of the best games on the gamecube - honestly, this game still looks amazing even today. A real testament to both the developers and just how good the hardware was last gen. Soul Calibur will never be my favorite fighter series - it's just too button mashy - but for mindless fun it's a proven crowd pleaser.

I will say this: I wish other companies would take a cue from Namco and how they incorporate interesting game modes into their fighters.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

i am aware of them now. i hate doing it, but i had to use a walkthrough. and yes, they are hidden in stupid areas. no way i would have ever discovered them myself. they are very helpful, however. i can actually get through a decent chunk of the game now.

the dual boss fights are the worst. i lose the bulk of my lives from them. i'm still trying to find a better method to kill them without them killing me.

have you ever beat it?
Twice that I can recall. Considering I've been playing the game since it came out, that says a lot about the difficulty. It only gets more brutal the further you get I'm afraid.

What's the furthest point you've reached so far?

Decided to revisit some Classics this week: I beat Donkey Kong Country (SNES) (though not a full 100%), Sonic 3 + Knuckles (Genesis), and last night I finished Contra (NES).
