What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Finally got around to watching Battle Royale. Holy crap. Fuck Hunger Games. I don't care if Collins did write it independently, Battle Royale is a thousand times better.

The Host (2006)

For whatever reason I'm watching a lot of monster movies lately(not to mention a lot of international movies). This one is kind of crazy. It's an interesting mix of social, political commentary, comedy, quirkiness, action, and melodrama. It's quite good, if a bit weird. Don't watch it if you're an American who is a little sensitive to us being portrayed poorly in movies. Americans and Brits looking bad seems to be a bit of a trend in a lot of Asian movies I've noticed.

Old joke (maybe/probably/almost certainly): Battle Royale is like Hunger Games, but Battle Royale, With Cheese.
Sorry.

Definitely old, ha! I thought I had heard the same joke here earlier back when Hunger Games was released. Heard it like this, though:Luke wrote:o.pwuaioc wrote:Finally got around to watching Battle Royale. \

What do they call Hunger Games in Japan (maybe Europe?)?

I really liked the opening of this, but then it got all silly. Dissapointed me ultimately.Gamerforlife wrote:

When you start watching, it seems kind of like it's going to be a serious, scary movie. Instead if comes off as a parody in some parts and a social commentary in others. If that's what you mean, then I understand. It's sort of a misleading movie. I tried to enjoy it on its own terms rather than keep wanting it to meet my initial expectations of it.noiseredux wrote:I really liked the opening of this, but then it got all silly. Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Saw Brave today.
Overall I enjoyed it, but if I had to rank it within the Pixar catalogue I'd place it smack dab in the middle.
The short they played before the movie though, I'd place in the upper tier of Pixar shorts. I thought it was really cute
Also, there were a hell of a lot of young kids in the theatre today (I expected kids, but not quite so many). They were a bit rowdy during the previews (especially when The Hobbit one started), but they all shut right the hell up when the movie started. Bravo, children.

Aren't the shorts always great?Michi wrote:

As long as they aren't kicking the back of my seat, I kind of enjoy the chatter from kids (during films for kids).
