I tried out some old Konami MSX games on the Konami MSX collection I have on Saturn, and god those games range from pretty fun to absolutely vindictively difficult. If you die at ALL in Parodius you may as well restart the whole game because you're so absolutely boned if you lose even your speed powerups XD
I had a fair bit of fun with Knightmare and Magical Tree though :D

Just out of curiosity how well do these games play on the Saturn? Is the scrolling pretty smooth, or does it have that 'herky jerky' behavior endemic to a lot of scrolling games on MSX?

Knightmare had some pretty bad slowdown when there were a lot of bullets onscreen, so the emulation seems to be pretty authentic, granted I've never played them on the original hardware. Other than the slowdown I didn't have any trouble controlling anything I played though.

Getting close (i think) to the 3rd boss in Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I just got back to China for the second time. I wonder how much more game there is.

I'm excited to dive into Mankind Divided

(may play Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines first because Halloween though)

I am currently playing through MD again for the third time. I really like the game quite a bit, despite the controversies surrounding it at launch and DLC stuff (pre-ordering and how they may have cut content to sell as DLC).

In any event one thing you’ll notice right away is how unbelievably detailed the game looks. On PC at the highest settings @1080p, it just looks amazing. Jensen is more fleshed out as a character. If you like the first one I think you’ll like MD. Get the DLC at a discount. They are pretty good.

From what I remember of playing it years ago, there's still a bunch of classic computer, choppy background updating. In particular I remember it vividly in Gradius 2.

Ohhhh, graphically very much yes. It's got the good old piece-meal pop-in so associated with the MSX. It's pretty good emulation on all fronts as far as I could tell :D . I'd say my favorite game of the bunch was probably King's Valley. I can definitely see younger me enjoying that game a lot, even though current me doesn't really have the patience for it

---

I finally got around to trying the demo of Judge Eyes (aka Project Judge), the new game coming from the Yakuza guys that's a more L.A. Noire-style spin-off of Yakuza (although the demo is only out on the Japanese PSN store, at the time of writing this).

You play as Yagami, a lawyer turned detective on the streets of Kamurocho. You do stuff like beat up thugs in the traditional Yakuza-fashion, identify suspects and clue items from a first person "inspection" mode off of given clues and pictures, do QTE-filled chase scenes (a lot like Heavy Rain had), and fight bosses also like Yakuza. The only recent Yakuza game I've played is the Fist of the North Star one, so I'm not sure how many mechanics like the inspection or stance-changing mid-fight are actually new features, but Yagami certainly feels like a much heavier, slower fighter than Kiryuu did to me. It's shaping up to be quite a fun game, from the looks of the demo :D

As a final note, perhaps it's just the demo, but the opening cutscene in Kamurocho chugged like crazy on my normal PS4. Perhaps it runs better on a PS4 Pro, but I couldn't say for sure. The in-engine stuff seemed to run perfectly fine as far as I could tell, or at the very least it didn't have the crazy juttering the cutscene had. At any rate, this may be one you wanna get a PS4 Pro for. It's certainly made me consider ditching this PS4 before I go to Japan and just picking up a Pro model when I'm over there, at the very least.

Before this, I had only played Invisible War on og. Xbox.

I love the mixture of fleshed out RPG w/ stealth game (or FPS, if you choose) and the political soap opera about cyborg augmentation. And that soundtrack - whew, boy. Deus Ex rules because you can build your character to your liking, and playstyle. But yeah if Mankind Divided is just more of this with pretty coat of paint, I'm so in. Will likely play Deus Ex 1 after if the story continues over well enough.

Gameplay wise MD is the best Deus Ex has ever been...

... everything else is the worst Deus Ex has ever been. And it's utterly incomplete, they were obviously going for a trilogy but the game tanked because Square Enix Europe forced in some wack multiplayer elements, pre-order bonus BS, and micro transactions at the last minute, etc. Now instead of seeing more original videogame IP's continue, we will have to suffer through Eidos/Crystal Dynamics making Marvel games for the next decade or two thanks to this lame Square Enix / Marvel deal. No thanks.

Human Revolution holds up, the DLC is excellent, and it's a great full package. I think they really shot themselves in the foot by making us play as Jensen again in MD. I think it would have done much better and been way more intriguing with a new lead. And I even like Jensen. But MD is just too much of the same and really average in most areas. Dishonored 2 blows it out of the water.

My 2c at least.

Not sure why you haven't played Deus Ex 1 though, it's still the best.

I started Koudelka on the Playstation 1 this evening!

I wanted to play another game, but I was having issues with it working. So, I ordered another copy, but I needed a game for tonight. Since it has gotten colder and spookier, I decided on Koudelka.

The game and the battles move really slow. It feels very much like a Resident Evil game with some light Disgaea battles in there. But, once you get in that mind set, Koudelka is pretty freaking great. The battles are immensely fun. I love being able to level up my character however I see fit. Even though your weapons break, there are enough around to not even matter. The setting is great and very unique as it has this fantastic Gothic aesthetic to it.

So, all the opinions thrown around here are correct. So far, Koudelka has been pretty great. :D
