Ex's 2016 beat list:
47. Mario Kart 7|3DS|2011|kart racer|1h 54m|9/10

Mario Kart 7 is a superbly well made entry to this long run kart racing franchise. This game looks and sounds fantastic, runs smooth as silk, controls well, and is a joy to play. Outside the impressive 3D effect, Mario Kart 7 brings hang-gliding and submarine additions to the kart itself. This allows the races to take to the air or go under water, which actually doesn't change the racing all that much, but is nice for the variety alone. Karts are further customizable via a plethora of options, most of which unlock from doing well in the races. There are 8 cups across 32 courses, half of which are new, and the other half remixes of prior courses from earlier games in the series. If racing gets old, there's also Balloon Battles and Coin Runners mode to keep the player busy, along with robust online options. A few new combat items are available as well, such as the Tanooki Tail and Fire Flower. My only complaint with this entry is that you cannot use the d-pad for steering, only the analog slider is allowed for that. Mario Kart 7 doesn't really move the series forward in any huge way, but it takes what Mario Kart already was, and polishes that concept to a brilliant sheen. If you've ever enjoy Mario Kart you owe it to yourself to play Mario Kart 7.

New Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U)
DAMN! This game was great. Definitely the best New SMB game so far. I'd chalk most of that up to not only the great level design and music, which is par for the course, really, but also due to the new wing-suit power up. It just feels like such a more natural evolution of the tanooki leaf and feather/cape, and it just works really well within the levels to provide an easier run while still being very skill based. Especially if you get the bundle with Luigi U, one of my favorite things I've come across on impulse in a long time. Really sorry I missed out on it when it first came out.
Expect a review for Luigi U in a few days, but that game is REALLY hard so far. Kinda surprised they sold it by itself, tbh. It seems like they almost expected you to beat NSMBU first with the skill level that even the first world demands.

Nice.
I wish, really truly wish, that Nintendo would do a compilation of all the arcade Mario Karts and release it for console or 3DS. Hell, I'd buy a Wii U for that.

1. Xenoblade Chronicles X - Nintendo Wii U - January 3
2. Fallout 4 - Xbox One - January 20
3. Yakuza 4 - PlayStation 3 - January 29
4. Yakuza: Dead Souls - PlayStation 3 - February 5
5. Yakuza 5 - PlayStation 3 - February 27
6. The Last of Us - PlayStation 3 - February 29
7. Yoshi's Wooly World - Nintendo Wii U - March 2
This has been sitting idle for me ever since I got Xenoblade. I picked it back up because I was on World 5 and figured I could finish it in a day if I put my mind to it. So, roll credits. This game was probably the most adorable game on Wii U I've played yet. There's so many cute things about it. It's charming, but man that Baby Bowser as the final boss was actually a bit challenging. I'd give Yoshi's Wooly World a solid 8.5/10.
Now I have a few options; Wonderful 101 or Bayonetta 1 & 2 on Wii U? What do you think I should play next?

I already have Wooly World, but I'm curious if it reaches the level of adorable that Yoshi's Story does when they sing in between levels.

Too bad Nintendo doesn't like making good compilations.

I thought Super Mario All Stars, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and Kirby's Dream Collection were quite good compilations. Metroid should have had Metroid and Super Metroid IMO, but it was still quite good.

1. Cubot (Xbox One version)
2. Child of Light (Xbox One version)
3. Toy Story 3 (Xbox 360 version)
4. Tomb Raider Legend (Xbox 360 version)
5. Injustice: Gods Among Us (Ps4 version - Story mode completed and Arcade mode twice)
6. Never Alone (Ps4 Version - Main game and DLC)
7. Virtues Last Reward (Vita)
8. One Piece Pirate Warriors (Ps3)
9. The Last Door Season Two: Episode One (PC)
10. Adventures of Bertram Fiddle Episode One (PC)
11. Party Hard (PC)
12. Capcom Fighting Jam (Ps2 - Arcade mode completed twice)
13. Under the Skin (Ps2)
14. Rain (Ps3)
15. Lasercat (PC)
16. Adventure AdLib (PC)
17. Dogs Life (Ps2)
18. Dear Red - Extended (PC)
Gotten from the current Groupees Greenlight bundle, this short RPG-maker game is quite chilling and manages to do its job brilliantly well. I cant imagine though that many people would be happy on anything above $2 given the additional content from the freeware version is minor.
19. Maken Shao: Demon Sword (PS2)
An incredibly weird hack and slash title from ATLUS but also one where the difficulty sometimes feels quite random and unfair (thanks to the enemy AI alternating between fiendish and stupid with little balance in between and also to the game pressing character selection decisions on you before you really have any clear idea who is best for what situation). Its still fun in chunks but the occasional horrid level lets it down.
Onto PacMan World Rally (Ps2), am finding it quite fun and definitely on the upper half of the Mario-Kart clone brigade.
