Thats great news!! I've put off playing anything in the X series after 3, but you've peaked my interest and I plan to pick up 4 now.

I've got a much less heroic announcement. I'm quitting FFVIII now. After beating Seifer I got to fight another boss. Took about 10 attempts, but I was able to beat her too. Got to a new (and presumably last) dungeon to find that all of my commands are unusable until I wander through the dungeon and defeat 8 (I think?) different bosses to regain full control of my characters. I beat the first one fairly easily and then saved my game. Not that there was ever a time when I was having a ton of fun with the game, but its just becoming less and less enjoyable. I have no drive to put up with this kind of dungeon only to be faced by (assuming from past FF experience) 2-3 end bosses in a row which I'll likely have to fight several (dozen!?!) times each in order to finish it. I'm really not that invested in the story or characters, especially since Squall still seems like a great big douche. I'm pretty confident that if I spent more time early in the game learning how to junction and use my GF more effectively it would have made things a lot easier so its definitely my fault that my characters are so useless at this point in the game.

Anyway I'm tossing FFVIII into my trade/sell box and I'll replace it on my summer gaming list with Chrono Cross now. Hopefully I'll have time to start it up soon as I just got a huge pile of work added to my shift for the next little while.

No, don't quit! Put up with it long enough to see Zell choke on that hotdog.

Oh man, made my day. Definitely one of the most memorable things about FFVIII's ending.

Soul Blazer: Came across some trouble with the airship boss after Dr. Leo's death. Finally figured out that quickly alternating between power and shield bracelets while falling back just a bit whenever he swoops down will do the trick. This was the only boss with whom I died more than once, and it took me a good dozen tries to finally get my timing and aim just right. I think the end is near, right?

Made it a little further in MUSHA today - I died partway through level 4. It is tricky to power back up in this game once you die (though not as bad as in Gradius III), but not impossible. Level 4 was pretty frantic compared to most of the stuff on the earlier levels, so we'll see how it goes from here (there are seven levels in total).

I know a few other folks were going to play MUSHA - anyone want to play along?

I'm having a break from this challenge for a few days, playing some things I just feel like playing, but I'll be getting stuck in again next week i reckon.

I've been distracted by Crash Bandicoot, then Apollo Justice.

Always happy to spread the pain around. God help you, my son.

Level 4 is awesome. The design for that level is amazing (same with every level really), and that BGM is badass. I'm beginning to see why this game has the reputation it does. The farthest I've made it so far is the boss of level 4, although I feel like I can definitely beat it on my next try.

so last night I was like "y'know what? I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna play X7 for like a good half hour before I hop in bed." I felt determined. I walked over to my shelf with conviction and pulled out the game case forcefully. I marched over to my PS3 and powered it on. As I opened the game case I caught a glance of the screen shots displayed on the back of the box. I slowly turned the PS3 off, put the game case back on the shelf, and went to bed.
