Don't worry, its not you. Pink Sweets is top end difficulty for Cave, who already makes pretty hard stuff. Muchi Pork is no cake walk, but its much more managable imo.

Pink Sweet's arrange mode is a little more beginner-friendly while still having a fun scoring system.

There are a lot of tricks to be learned in both games that make survival and scoring in.these games a bit easier.

Just got Guunbird 2 for DC today so I'm putting in work! I'm a bit surprised it has a lot a lot of slowdown when to much is goin on onscreen. Does the JPN version or arcade version suffer from this?

Yes, if you stop shooting, you get a shield. If it builds to max and then you shoot, you will bomb (not a panic bomb though)

If you skip 4 shot power ups (the single bullet, and rapid and 3 way all count as powerups) and then pick up the 5th (which should be flashing quicker) you will get a secret power up that takes you to max power, which you cant get through normal powerups.

Also, when you first start, you want to get your shot frequency up to at least 15 by tapping shot as fast as uou can (30 is max)

There is also a secret option formation, you pass up 4 options and grab the 5th

Pressing shot and your option formation button at the same time will change your speed and reduce your shield to nothing. This is useful, as bombing should be avoided. It raises rank faster than anything.

Hope that helps :)

JPN version is the same.

Of course the arcade version is better. There is some slowdown, but not nearly as drastic as teh DC gamez.

Took a break from Truxton and put an hour into Deathsmiles.

Reached the Bonus Stage on 1c - but didn't clear it. In fact, took 4 total credits to beat it. That last stage w/multiple crazy bosses - damn. I don't think i'll ever 1cc, but i'm happy w/where i'm at right now.

My score was only 9,870,600...which checking some hi's on shmups, means...I need to learn a lot about the scoring, cause I felt like I was just killing it - and yeah, that would net me nowhere near any records.

One thing about the "easier" cave games like Deathsmiles and Espgaluada... they are easier to 1cc than most cave stuff if you are only going for a 1cc, but when you add in scoring, the game is far from easy. That bonus stage is freakin nuts, I found it harder than the final stage of the game.

I still don't know too much about scoring in DS, other than the basics.

If possible, don't do the volcano stage until you are ready to start up your crazy mode (that uses up your gems to net you the big points.) Once you start the volcano, try to save going crazy for the indestructable bolder-spitting volcanos.

When you are in your crazy mode, you cannot die from contacting an enemy. This means you can sit right on top of thoes boulders without fear of dying, and milk a crap ton of gems with your option.

The overall goal is to milk so much that it maxes out the counters that you are getting in crazy mode. You'll notice as the numbers max out, they change to a copperish color (I think, its honestly been a while)

Once that happens, you will want to let any gems that you get fall to the floor and break into as many smaller gems as possible. Since you have maxed out the gem value, its worth more to let them fall apart, since you will still get the max bonus on each gem.

As I said, its been a while since I've had a credit at this game, probably almost a year. Hopefully some of this helps you out though. Glad you are liking this game! Hopefully there will be more Cave in your future
