Cool! Be sure to let us how it goes if you don't mind. :)

I'm having some issues unfortunately. At first, the signal would flicker on and off for my receiver, and when the signal was there the audio was horrible.

The audio somehow fixed itself, but the flickering happens through my receiver, connected to the TV, and also connected to a different TV.

After I switched around TV's a few times it seemed to happen less, and was actually working flawlessly for maybe 10-15 minutes. When I went back to the main menu I started having problems again though. I suspect it may be the converter box. Plugging directly to a VGA monitor doesn't do this.

I guess my best bet is to try VGA -> Component now. That or give up. :P

Well shoot, sorry to hear about the HDMI. :( Did you try another TV just to see if the converter was at fault?

Good luck on that component converter. I hope that goes well.

finally found a dude on SHMUPs that is modding my VGA box (clear one i bought on here years back) for RGB use on the switch, plus plug for SCART to XRGB, can't wait! region-free modchip too, went ahead & replaced the internal battery too so the poor thing would stop thinking it was like december '98.

My TV is one that adds vertical lines when the DC is running 16:9 or 4:3 (something to do with the resolution) and can not be fixed. (We discussed this in length earlier in this thread) I was wondering if something like this would help: http://www.neweggflash.com/Product/9SIA2R60V53049
Up-scales VGA to HDMI 720P or 1080P
• Integrate 3.5mm Audio into Digital HDMI
• Supports VGA Input: 640x480@60/75Hz, 800x600@60/75Hz, 1024x768@60Hz, 1280x720@60Hz, 1280x800@60Hz, 1280x960@60Hz, 1360x768@60Hz, 1400x1050@60Hz, 1680x1050@60Hz, 1920x1080@60Hz.

So I have a newer NEC monitor but after hooking up a VGA Box nothing comes on the screen and I get a DVI: No Input message. Is this because the monitor doesn't do 640x480? The box lights up and is brand new. Any tricks?

Does your monitor have a DVI input? If so, that may be why that message is showing. Switch your monitor to the VGA input.

Makes sense - so it's a separate set of pins for the VGA, or something in the settings?

I'm thinking even more simply than that. Is there not like a button on the front that switches between the various inputs of the monitor?

Sadly, not for the model I have. I've poured over the manual and no luck.

Just looked at the manual. Sick monitor. Try hitting "SELECT"—manual says that changes input source (Page 10).
