If it does come to that, no vacuum cleaner with pop out tube or dustbuster with crevice tip you can hold next to the lock while drilling to suck them all up?
i mean, yeah, i have a shop vac, but i didn't think that far :)

Definitely try someone elses key first. Drilling them is no fun.

Impatience cost me with my first cab, I drilled a couple locks before I knew the keys were the same. The locks were a nice added cost to the key I should have just bought in the first place :?

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Locks on many cabs are the same, but the blanks are not common. My Astro's CP was a weird W shaped Sega key, and at $35 for the keys, I drilled them out. A week later I discovered someone locally with an Astro I could have borrowed the keys from.

Does anybody know of any websites selling pre-modded front-lit NGPC consoles? I've seen a few come up on ebay now and again but they always seem to have scratched screens or some other fault.

I really love this system but would like to play it without constantly having to have a good light source. Since acquiring Cotton this has become more important to me as that game suffers from the problems that Castlevania had on the early GBA system: rich, dark colours that don't display well in daylight.

This has come up a couple times, never with a good answer. Only one I know of is Rose Colored Gaming, but they're a: REALLY expensive (they do custom coloring and such too), and b: often sold out/backordered like crazy.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

Yeah, I saw that website. I'm not averse to their pricing for a quality unit but their stock is all marked as sold out or "retired".

I've never done any modding myself. Is there something about the system that makes it very difficult to mod or is there simply a lack of demand? Modded GBC's seem to be everywhere on ebay. It also seems like it's impossible to backlight a NGPC, only front light it.

Again I don't know what the specifics of this are that prevent it. A backlit NGPC system, even a clone would be a dream system for me.

follow RCG on facebook, he's pretty bad about updating the blog (i don't think it ever gets updated). the FB feed is the easiest way to get up to date info regarding onsales, etc.

I modded my NGPC a while ago, and am about to do another as soon as I get my donor SP:
