Haha, guess I missed that earlier Michi. The screens of the opened boxset make it look high quality all around, can't wait to get it.

Average at times or not, I'd still definitely say Lina is one of the best characters I've seen in awhile. She has all the characteristics to be extremely annoying... but just comes off as really playful and awesome. Hard to pull that off usually I'd say.

I have that set.

Packaging is a lot cheaper than it looks. :(

It's still a fantastic deal though.

Finally watched Project A-ko last night. It was an old VHS copy I found at the thrift store, so dub only, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. The dub did leave a bit to be desired, but it still managed to make me laugh, and not in always in a "it's-so-bad-it's-terrible" kind of way. C-ko's voice got on my nerves the most, but the rest were tolerable.

I was more concerned that my VHS tape might not come out of the player properly. It's not in the best of conditions. Kind of looks like a dog got a hold of it and no one noticed until the furry beast had already chewed off the bottom left corner. Came out fine though, so all is well. I've got the 3rd tape too, Cinderella Rhapsody, and I may end up watching that tonight.

It's a pity most of the DVD releases are so pricey. I'd like to be able to get the whole series without having to mortgage the damn house

Speaking of expensive DVD sets... now that the Sailor Moon manga is back in print, think we'll see a reissue of the anime? A few months ago I found season one for $75. Decided to skip out on it, now I regret that decision. Strange that one of the most popular anime titles is so hard to find.

Some shows are just lost in a licensing limbo. I imagine the closing of companies like ADV don't help things.

I think the reason it's so hard to find is because it was so popular. People who loved the show (like me  ) know that those disks are out of print and are either hanging onto them for dear life (and hoping for a reprint and a final release of season 5) or trying to hoc them for muy dinero on ebay.

I thank the fates frequently for my foresight in asking for Season 3 for Christmas when I did. (Though, come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I ended up getting a different season each Christmas, so, yay mom!)

Now though....damn. I don't think I'd be able to afford it. Unless you luck out on an auction, expect to at least over $100 for either season 1 or 2 (And the second set isn't even complete. It's missing 1 episode).

As for a re-release, I'm very hopeful. The manga seems to be selling fairly well (all the current volumes are in the Top 20 in Manga sales on Amazon), so hopefully someone will pick it up. I know Funimation expressed interest a (long) while ago about doing a re-dub, but I think a survey is as far as that went. The other companies that did have it in North America have lost their distribution rights. I know that Toei has shown interest in selling the rights again.

Damnit! Speaking of this stuff and Marmalade Boy recently... I just noticed boxsets 1, 2, and 4 are dirt cheap, and then... bam boxset 3...

Ugh.

I think especially with old anime, you have to get those things within a year pronto or something. I better grab those other HnK boxsets that I need and other stuff like Dirty Pair soon...

I really hope Sailor Moon gets reissued before too long. The demand is ridiculously high and everyone knows it. I'm very glad to own the third series. Even though it's kind of repetitive "monster of the week" fare for the most part, it's a solid show and a total classic.

I can't believe that Neon Genesis Evangelion is technically out of print. I already own both the series and the two original movies, but that was an amazing series and absolutely deserves to remain in print. I'd double-dip for a Blu-Ray with no hesitation.

As for regrets with out-of-print titles, I really regret not bothering to get any of Urusei Yatsura. I still want to see that at some point!

(I'm still watching Minky Momo and am liking it more and more with each episode. It's cute stuff! Magical girl anime can be a fun time.)

Is it really? I watched the series piecemeal by buying these discs (all used), as I could never find a boxset.

Funny you should mention Evangelion. I came here to write that it's next on deck for me. I bought a couple "Director's Cut" DVDs, which I guess are just edits of the some of the final episodes. I don't want to watch them without watching the rest of the series again first, though.

Anyone know anything about those new Evangelion films (1.11, 2.22)? The titles are confusing. Are they adding more to the story or are these just a retelling of the original plot?

I finished Love Hina about half an hour ago. Glad I stuck with it, it was quite cute and charming towards the end. I'd still like to finish the manga though as I seem to prefer that.

And damn now I'm really kicking myself for not buying season one of Sailor Moon for $75 when I saw it. $210 is the cheapest one on Amazon now!

I don't know what will bankrupt me first: anime or video games.
