Has anyone here seen Justice League: Doom? I enjoyed that movie and I'm curious how well they adapted the original story. Was it a spot on translation like Batman: Year One, or did they take a more loose approach?
They kept the core idea of Tower of Babel, but told a completely different story. The players were different, and the events of the story were different. However, it's the same basic theme at the heart of the story as it was in Tower of Babel which is...
What happens if Batman finds a way to stop the Justice League, and those plans fall into the wrong hands?
I think the original story is better, but the new version is better suited for a movie and I really enjoyed watching it.

Anyone read any good video game based comic books?

I know there's the Nintendo Comics System by Valiant, and I'd love to read them, but I haven't come across them yet. It does have the potential for cheesiness, though, from the looks of it.

Castlevania: The Belmont Legacy looks really good. I'm thinking of getting a set of these on my next back-issue splurge.

I've always wanted the Resident Evil comics from the late 90s, but they go for a pretty penny as far as modern comics go:

And then there's the Halo Graphic Novel which I should have gotten a long time ago and haven't yet. Brian Michael Bendis is one of the best writers at Marvel and Alex Maleev is no slouch in the art department, either:

Does anyone have an opinion on any of these, or other video game based comics?

I used to do a "together retro" video game comic thing at my site where I would review a game and comics that went with it. I did review Bloodlines and The Belmont Legacy.
Here is my review of the comic.

If you want cheesy goodness, here's one:

You can find scans of the whole book at atariage.

I loved the Valiant comics Zelda books, barely remember the Mario ones. With the Zelda ones, I don't know if I can look at them without my rose colored glasses. They are drenched in nostalgia for me

As sappy as it sounds, I always rooted for Link back then to get the girl. Those books had that will they, won't they dynamic between Link and Zelda that you see in a lot of TV shows and sitcoms. Think Bones or Castle, but with evil wizards, hot princess, and cool swords

I have one issue of the Legend of Zelda comic and almost the complete run of the Captain N comic that I snagged a few years ago from a shop that was going out of business. Haven't seen any more since, but I always keep my eyes peeled.

I'm like a broken record here, but with every new issue I have to say it again. This series is fucking AWESOME! It's every bit as good as the Angel show was and it almost pains me that I don't get to see the original actors playing out these story lines on my TV. But then I wouldn't be getting those awesome Steve Morris covers. Angel has not been handled so well since Brian Lynch was writing for him. Plus, Christos Gage gets how to write Faith so well, just like Brian K Vaughn did when he writing her over in Buffy. The book is focused (unlike Buffy of late) and has a great plot, action, character moments, and cool references back to the show and the overall Buffyverse mythology. And you really can't have a better art team than Rebekah Isaacs and Steve Morris on covers. Even some of the book's guest artists have been great.

I don't really like comics much besides Batman and manga.

The newer Mega Man is great as is the classic ongoing Sonic the Hedgehog. Other series I haven't read but i know exist are Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, and DC/Wildstorm's World of Warcraft and Gears of War.
