Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I always had a ton of keys as a kid: house keys, barn/shed keys, tractor/lawnmower keys, etc...
I was a latchkey kid too, but an irresponsible one because I was always forgetting my keychain at home. Used to break in through the windows which didn't please my 'rents too much.
Nowadays, the amount of keys I possess is downright terrifying:

I've got a handful of keys. Most of them are to shit I don't have anymore.
I still have the mailbox keys to my old apartment. I probably shouldn't have those...

I still have a key from 3 vehicles ago. It was somewhere so safe I forgot about it. The car was totaled anyway, so doesn't really matter.AppleQueso wrote:I've got a handful of keys. Most of them are to shit I don't have anymore.

I'm sure the apartment rotated the locks with others in their pile and so they wouldn't work anyway.

I wish I had a spare key for one of my cars.
Where would I get one of those, a dealership?

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Additionally, it depends if you care that the key matches or not. If a generic is fine and your key is in good shape, then yeah, 2 minutes at the hardware store and you're good. If you have keys with a plastic head or want it to be official and fancy, then head to a dealer. A hardware store machine basically traces your key to copy it. A dealer will likely read the code off the key or the lock itself and make a nice perfectly cut new key.Luke wrote:Chip = DealershipBoneSnapDeez wrote:I wish I had a spare key for one of my cars.

Prices of course will vary.
