The world was accurately rendered as I saw the previous beasts I reclaimed and also shrines I did and did not complete.Xeogred wrote:Like most said, the Rito dungeon was indeed very easy... but I loved it. Maybe others knocking on the difficulty about this one were also going on about the fact that there was like no buildup whatsoever. When you find the Rito village, you can be at the dungeon in like 10 minutes if you book it and already have some warm gear. In comparison I loved how long the trek was to get to Zora's domain, and it was actually quite challenging at times with all the electrical enemies along the path and the constant rain forced you to stick to the main path for that portion. And then the Goron canon mountain climb for that dungeon was pretty cool. But the Rito one... there was no task to get to the actual dungeon, so that's what I find a little disappointing about it. But the actual dungeon itself was really cool, even if it was easy.

Are any of you using Amiibo in your Breath of the Wild play-through? A Walmart near me had the Ocarina of Time Link and 8-Bit Link Amiibo for $3 each, so I've been using them. Ocarina Link gives you the Biggoron's sword and Link's OOT outfit, whereas 8-Bit Link gives you the original NES Link's outfit and sword (these items are spawned rarely, so you must scan the Amiibo repeatedly to get them). Both give you other loot as well, like meat, special arrows, and other weapons (if the special items didn't appear). I also have the Wolf Link Amiibo from Twilight Princess HD on Wii U but I haven't opened that yet.
At first I didn't find the game to be "Zelda-y" at all, and it wasn't jiving with my sense of what Zelda ought to be. But the more I played it, the more I liked it -- and now I'm a true believer
. Great game. I've completed 100 shrines and collected 110 Korok seeds and have beaten all divine beasts and Calamity Ganon. Lately I've been hunting Lynels, and amazingly, after so many Lynel blocks, my Hylian shield broke.

So who's actually playing this on Wii U instead of Switch? prfsnl_gmr?
Re: Zelda Breath of the Wild - Wii U vs. Switch
I'm playing it on Wii U. Buying a Switch to play it when I already have a Wii U seemed silly. I probably will eventually get a Switch, but will wait until there are more games out -- perhaps when Mario Odyssey releases. I'm not into buying Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, despite the new features, since I already own it on the Wii U; the new content isn't worth it to me.BoneSnapDeez wrote:So who's actually playing this on Wii U instead of Switch? prfsnl_gmr?

Good. I shoot for the oldest hardware possible.
That said, I never did end up playing Twilight Princess on GameCube...

I bought Twilight Princess when it first came out on GameCube, and I'm glad I did. Using the 'Cube's controller was so much nicer than using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck.BoneSnapDeez wrote:That said, I never did end up playing Twilight Princess on GameCube...

I had both versions of TP, and while the Wii one is fairly serviceable(being a bit nice) it's garbage compared to the intended Gamecube release. In a way BotW is like that I guess a bit too, but at least the controls and other aspects aren't broken or compromised, it just definitely would have looked and rendered better (and smoother FPS) had the WiiU never been in the picture.
Re: Zelda Breath of the Wild - Wii U vs. Switch
They removed the map/inventory on Wii U Gamepad feature to make the Wii U and Switch versions more uniform. For that reason, I kind of wish it had remained a Wii U exclusive.Tanooki wrote:I had both versions of TP, and while the Wii one is fairly serviceable(being a bit nice) it's garbage compared to the intended Gamecube release.
