I stress again that this is a video game and if you aren't enjoying it, take a step back.
I'm not mad, but it's kinda dumb that they only added in things in eggs - it means I don't really have the excitement of searching for pokémon, because nothing new is going to appear as I look around.

Say they had added some of the early pokédex pokemon too - Mareep, Wooper, Hoppip, Hoothoot, Sentret. Not only would it mean there's things to find as I walk my eggs, but it also gives me more motivation to go out walking in the first place!

Also, I think it's fair to be annoyed that half a year after release, not only have they not released all the original pokémon (still at 146/151 available) but they've only added another 8 since release.

That means that it's taken 6 months to release 8 pokémon (including Ditto). There are 802 pokémon total, not including alternate forms, which likely add easily another 100 or so. How long will it be til we can catch them all? Probably never, at this pace

But....they are the baby pokemon which were only obtainable by breeding and eggs in gold and silver. It doesn't have to be annoying, frustrating or anything of the sort. Do you NEED a pichu to fill a gym? No! Do you need all of those pokemon right this instant to fill your pokedex? No! I stress again that this is a video game.

I normally agree with you on most things, but I don't really understand your point here.

I'm saying that I find the whole thing a bit of an anticlimax, and that the idea that this would encourage people to play again is a little unconvincing considering the main gameplay of walking around and catching stuff literally offers nothing new right now - people are gonna be running into the same stuff they did for 6 months already!

I have no problem with how the baby pokemon were implemented, it makes total sense. I just wish that they had implemented a few other pokémon to encounter in the wild alongside them.

And your other point was that this is a video game, and if I'#m not enjoying it I should take a step back? I'm posting in a retro game forum, on a topic about the game, with a pokémon avatar (gen 2, no less) and I make regular time to go and catch stuff. Of course I'm enjoying it  And I'm not trying to be antagonisitic with that statement either - I just want you to understand that at no point have I been raging and distraught and upset about this, just a little disappointed.

That doesn't mean I can't feel like the game has been mishandled - it's had issues since launch. I'm happy we're starting to see regular updates to the game, but it all feels quite inconsequential so far - I thought we might have been in for the first 'big' news for the game - something more substantial than 'now you can see type icons on pokémon gyms' or 'We've changed the base power of Blizzard' which are pretty minor tweaks overall.

I just want to make it clear that I did not think that your disappointment was invalid in any way nor that your words were too harsh.

I do feel, however, that a large vocal majority believe that games should be catered to their needs in ways that are unrealistic. People who can spend 6-12 hours a day ingesting games complain that there is no new content to a game that has been out for 5 months when there has been and it has seen moderate improvements to things like the tracking system, the user interface, and pokemon spawning.

I feel like those that are genuinely upset (again you not included in this) about the game are part of an epidemic in gaming culture that kills the joy and fun out of games. We get furious when an update or expansion to a game comes out 3 months after release and need a constant stream of AAA content in a buffet line.

I am patient about things like Pokemon Go, because my play time is highly diminished from my youth and even then, I wouldn't be upset about it. I am happy with what I can get because I haven't soared to every possible height in the game.

I feel like our need to be gorge on video games leads us to not understand, appreciate and respect the industry. It makes games unfun.

Again... not stressing that your opinions are invalid or that this rant is directed towards you in any way! I love and respect you AJ!

No worries, there definitely are some times I can think of people expecting games designers to offer everything on a plate.

Either way, I guess I am lying about one thing - there is ONE (sorta) new pokémon you can catch whilst out and about, and I caught it, twice.

2 Holiday Pikachu in Santa hats. 10 cp and 151 cp respectively, so pretty useless, but hey, I caught it.

I was only out for 20 minutes or so too, so I'm guessing they're not all that rare.

I can't wait to find me some santa hat pikachus. I have enough to get another raichu and want to have both with hats.

Huh, I assumed it'd lose the hat upon evolution, but apparently not. That's pretty cool.

I'll have to go searching for more Pikachu soon so I can get Raichu Claus aswell!

I tried all of a couple hours I was out yesterday and only saw one, a joke posting at the low point of a gym at a church on a corner intersection.

Pikachu around here shows up maybe at most once a month or two. I hold out no hope of getting one but I will be happily pleased if it happens. Ditto I didn't feel as such as it seemed like it was just a matter of time given it spawns from the overly blown out commons and I tagged 3 in one day (and oddly not one since.)

Pikachu is rare around here too. I've seen maybe 3 since the game launched, besides ones I've hatched.

I've seen 2 Santa-chu in 20 minutes. I suspect they'll be a least a bit more common for you to find.

Yeah I was fortunate enough to have a pikachu nest spawn at our zoo around noon every day. Stocked up!
