@Bone: Maybe this is more for CFFJR, but have you looked into Marmalade Boy? If you want some insanely ridiculous romance/comedy check it out haha... my friends joked how it's one of the most polarizing shows ever, with characters to love and definitely some for anyone to hate. But as I like to say... emotion > no emotion when it comes to shows, so despite its annoyances it was so damn entertaining and one of my favorites.

You'd love it bruno!!
brunoafh wrote:I more or less ignore Love Hina and similar moe/harem/whatever anime's existence... too stupid to even acknowledge. No offense intended to anyone but to me it's just mindless garbage.

On a side note, I'm really catching up with these Hellsing Ultimate OVAs and wow, they are even surpassing the manga. Really great in every field, gonna speed through it at this rate.

Also watching the original Dragon Ball and quite enjoying it. I am hoping that it gets better because I'm pretty underwhelmed by this Red Ribbon Army arc, but at the same time I'm quite confident it will ramp up and the Red Ribbon stuff isn't killing me or anything. Mostly I'm trying to reach the finish line so I can begin my virgin viewing of DBZ without dubs.
Well, you have two more tournaments ahead that blow the first one away (if that says something) and then the large Piccolo Daimao arc when the seriousness becomes DBZ level stuff. He's pretty underrated since half the fans skipped DB I guess, because he's pretty damn evil and pulls some stuff no other villain does from then on.

In my whole DB/Z Japanese watching venture, it was DB that had the most standout single "HOLY SHIT" moment. We'll talk about it later.

The RR Army arc is a lower point for some others that I know. But as I've told you, I really loved it... lol. But yeah you'll probably really like everything beyond it.

Funny you should post that Xeogred, I just read a review of the anime this afternoon.

Looks interesting. I love 90s stuff and the opening reminds me of Ranma ½ with the silly colorful backgrounds and characters strolling around.

It's VERY 90's so I guess that's another plus. Loved the art style (guess I'll admit I like the old school shoujo look? haha). Had really awesome music too. It was a very addicting show so I definitely recommend it. You'll laugh, have fun, get pissed, tear up, etc, haha...

I know Hana yori Dango is supposed to be one of the best from the 90's too. I still need to watch that one myself.

I dunno, sometimes I like to turn my brain off and just lol at the stupid jokes. One of my favorite series is Chobits simply because I find it so damn hilarious.
Man, I really didn't care for Chobits either, nor do I care for a lot of stuff in a similar vein...

Then again, I really enjoyed Mahoromatic and the first season of Steel Angel Kurumi, so maybe it's just a case of execution. DearS was beyond horrible though.

If you just like to "turn your brain off and just lol at the stupid jokes"... have you seen Cromartie High School? It's got a ton of really strange and surreal humor, and is incredibly over-the-top.

I like Excel Saga a lot. It's pretty wacky and kinda obnoxious at times, but it's pretty hilarious if you don't mind that. It's also quite a treat if you're a huge fan a lot of older anime, as it's crammed with references and nods to all kidns of stuff. It's constantly lampooning anime cliches and tropes. It's an anime made for anime fans, really.

Cromartie High School I've been meaning to check out. Sexy Commando is the funniest damn thing I have ever seen, and supposedly Cromartie High School is in the same vein. Excel Saga I'm somewhat interested in because I guess it's intended to be a parody of all the anime tropes I tend to dislike, so I can see myself at least getting a kick out of it.

Wow Slayers got so serious and intense towards the end there, haha that was seriously good stuff. Even the action got really freaking good, along with the music, and everything...

You guys see this crazy boxset? Dayum, bang for your buck there. Went ahead and ordered it so I can watch Next and Try down the road.

Hellz yes. That's the set I've been looking at. It's a tie-up next month between getting that or this.

Slayers does that. They all start off as lighthearted and comedic hijinx, and then follow with a serious plot. Really, this applies to every Slayers season.
