Except that they still aren't offering universal keyboard/mouse support on console FPS's, and so few people bother. The ones who would use a keyboard and mouse tend to just play it on the PC instead, aside from a few rare cases where they've given up on the upgrade cycle. Plus, even with keyboard and mouse support the game interface has to cater to the lowest common denominator (namely a controller), which means you see the sacrifice of things like inventory and skill systems. Look at DX:IW, the poster child for how the Xbox and its descendant are ruining America.dsheinem wrote:I agree whole-heartedly that FPSs are far better on a PC and it has always been my medium of choice. But, starting this generation, the gap is less (esp. with keyboard/mouse support) and I have come to enjoy FPSs on consoles much more in the last year or two than I ever did before.

Saw Valkyrie last night. Those guys were so close, if only they hadn't waited so long to put the plan into motion.

I remember Wicked City and it was certainly not fit for tv in its original form. I was sort of indifferent to it. Apart from shock value it didn't do much for me. Apparently some view it as a cult classic thoughDylan wrote:Yeah, there were a couple rape scenes that really put me off. Tentacles too. Blech. Don't get me wrong, it's not like hentai, it's just too close for comfort. The only time anything showing was appropriate was with Arachne, because that's a good and established demonic image. Everything else was unjustified.Mozgus wrote:Funny. I only saw it on cable once long ago. Must have been censored very much. I don't remember any sexual content.
Also regarding the whole FPS better on PC thing. I think it's bull. A whole generation of gamers are playing FPS games just fine on consoles. People say you have greater speed and precision on PC. To that I simply say, "who cares?". I mean I've played PC to console ports and usually the level of difficulty is not so high that the loss of some speed and accuracy from mouse/keyboard to controller actually matters. Seems to me like most FPS games are most likely TOO EASY with mouse and keyboard
As for multi-player, again the advantage of mouse/keyboard is a moot point since most players will be using a controller just like you so it's a level playing field. About the only real advantage to FPS games on PC are mods, buy you know what? I'd rather play NEW games instead of several mods for the same game I've finished already
FPS games are great no matter WHAT you choose to play them all.

I see it as a case of not knowing what you're missing. Let me give you an example from my own life. Here in Seattle the weather tends to be on the moderate side. The record high and low temps are 100 and 0 farenheit respectively. The summers tend to be rather mild and with no real humidity. This year has been a scorcher, which means mid 80's. Generally it's only mid 70's. There's always one week in the year where one day gets up to 90 and the rest are mid-80's. As a result, most residences don't have central air conditioning, even new buildings. Most people will suffer through that one month with a few box fans and some open windows. For all the natives this is just the way the world works, and they don't consider anything else.Gamerforlife wrote:Also regarding the whole FPS better on PC thing. I think it's bull. Now I'm originally from Chicago. There the weather is more extreme, where it gets damn cold in the winter and damn hot in the summer, plus really bad humidity. Mid-80s are the cool summer days, and it's more common for low 90's. As a result every home has air conditioning of some kind. Newer ones have central air, and the old houses will have a few window units.
This summer I experienced a one-two punch of a particularly hot Seattle summer plus a new plasma TV in a one-bedroom apartment. I actually was experiencing an inability to sleep at night because the ambient temperature was 85+ in my apartment. So I finally bought myself a portable AC unit. It's pulling off a 10 degree drop, which is amazing. I've started converting my coworkers as well, and every one who has purchased one cannot figure out how they lived without it. I see the dual analog vs. mouse and keyboard debate to be similar. Sure, you can suffer with dual analog. But those who are used to mouse and keyboard, as I was to AC, know just how bad dual analog is compared to the real thing.
This statement really demonstrates the fact that you aren't a big PC gamer. Some of the finest PC games I've played have been mods. Counter Strike is the obvious example. I've heard very good things about Natural Selection, and Mechwarrior Living Legends is my most anticipated title that's going to be hitting this year. The best mods are just as new of a game as Gears of War is. After all, when you think about it Gears of War is just a UT3 mod. It's more robust than others might be, but at the end of the day that's what it boils down to in the strictest sense.About the only real advantage to FPS games on PC are mods, buy you know what? I'd rather play NEW games instead of several mods for the same game I've finished already.

Popo, don't even try reasoning with him. PC fans are never allowed to praise their platform without a console fan trying to beat them down. PCs are only really superior to consoles in a couple genres, but even that fact is too much for some of these people to bare.

I was just expressing my opinion. I certainly don't think I'm unreasonable, but I forgot that anytime someone disagrees with Mozgus they can expect to be bashed by him in some very rude, not very mod-like way. Pretty much how things work around hereMozgus wrote:Popo, don't even try reasoning with him. PC fans are never allowed to praise their platform without a console fan trying to beat them down. Anyway, Popo made a good point about mods. I'll give him that.
As for players not knowing what they're missing, I know some console gamers who just can't get comfortable with mouse/keyboard. The whole ASWD thing for moving in particular is uncomfortable for many console gamers. It just comes down to what one is used to.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Sorry, but you don't know anything. WASD+keyboard is much easier for a person to get comfortable with than dual sticks. It has nothing to do with experience. Of all people, I once got my little sister heavily into TFC. This girl never played games, and she certainly hated the few console FPS I tried to get her to play over the years, including TimeSplitters 2, which is the god damned best console FPS out there. Somehow, within 20 minutes, she was running, jumping, shooting, and scoring the first frags in her entire life. She stuck with it for weeks. It was a beautiful sight. Too bad she went on to never enjoy any other games in her life, except maybe Kirby's Adventure on my NES for short periods.Gamerforlife wrote:As for players not knowing what they're missing, I know some console gamers who just can't get comfortable with mouse/keyboard. Anyway, this is off topic. And don't refer to my mod status as if it dictates behavior. So tired of you clowns trying that argument when you can't stump me.
