I have a reproduction cart that was specially made per my request from a member at this forum. He even offered me a free upgraded ROM when a new translation patch was released about a year after he made the cart.

You have exploit/abuse it. The game can be really easy that way.

I've been playing over an hour and no idea what to do. Like I said, got the ring brought it back to Hilda and she gave me the map as Popo pointed out. She taught me about mithril. No idea what next. Talked to everyone in this town and the next. They all just keep telling me Altair but I've already been there to get the ring. I checked a guide and it said Minru is supposed to join my party now, but when I talk to him nothing happens.

I checked another walkthrough and same thing> I think I broke my game already.

The game has a strange "adventure" element to it where you have to learn a key phrases and use them to advance the story. Perhaps you missed something in Altair...You might also have to "show" or "use" the ring on a character at some point to advance the story. I do not remember exactly...

Anyway...what Bone said...you really have to grind and exploit the leveling system in the game if you want to make it easier.

Yeah, make sure you always "learn" the key phrases and "talk" them to every NPC you can.

I've learned both phrases, and believe I've talked to everyone. Stumped so early in the game.

So I am playing FF1 and....


I'm at this part where I'm in a cave and have to fight a gauntlet of bosses. But these guys are fucking strong as hell. The only one I've managed to beat is a two headed dragon. Am I supposed to be able to kill these things normally or is there some secret item I'm missing lol.
