Just watched Revolution too. I went in expecting cheese with at least some decent action to make watching the pilot survivable. What I got was about that, but with better than average action.
However, I question if they will be able to sustain the action setpieces like they did in the pilot. Probably not, which makes it more important that they can come up with some compelling drama, which they failed to do with the pilot.
The brother they went to track down was very clearly going to go with them, it was just a matter of when he'd finally say yes. His reasons for not going were flimsy to start with, became even more flimsy once he had nothing to lose, and then his change of mind hinged on. . . him just changing his mind.
Then we had the step-mom situation. We get it, daughter is trusting, wants to go on adventures, step-mom is overprotective, suspicious of everyone.
These strong ying/yang personalities and decisions are a cheap way to create drama.
Then there's the nitpicks. Like the fact that they're in/near chicago. Where it gets damn cold. Meaning in those 15 years, they probably could've made some ice cream.
We had vehicles that ran without electricity in the late 1800s. Has nobody bothered with that avenue? Obviously cars aren't going to be rampant, but a pieced together vehicle that runs on coal or steam would be some cool imagery, without messing up the concept.
Our comic-relief guy had no funny lines. None.
Giancarlo Esposito is a badass.
So what have you guys been watching lately?
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
ROSEANNE
The first few seasons are so good. Watching the episode where Becky and a friend get drunk, and it is laugh out loud funny.
It's a shame the show went on for so long because the last three seasons were garbage.
Jerry Seinfeld has said "They could have paid me twice what they were per episode, but it was time to quit. We were out of good ideas". Too bad Roseanne didn't have Jerry's clarity.

Started Dollhouse last night.
A Joss fan, but not and Eliza fan, so have been holding off. Should've known, it's pretty tough to ruin Joss's stuff. Another winrar so far.

Ive been meaning to check out Dollhouse. We recently started watching Alphas on Netflix. Pretty good so far. We're about 4 eps in and it's entertaining. Not as good as Heroes was in its first (and only good) season, but I dont think they're really going for a Heroes premise. Good show though. I like the Autistic kid, and I like the strong guy's basis for his power/ability.

I remember the show seriously nosediving when they won the lottery, though i imagine it was already on a decline long before then. It's been ages since I've sat down and watched any of it.Luke wrote:ROSEANNE

The 'twist' series ending was such a copout too.
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
I found the finale as an apology to Roseanne's fans, so I find it endearing that she still remembered the good days of her show. It totally went to hell in a handbasket (still not sure what that means but I say it an awful lot) and it became what is was never meant to be, but the finale sat well with me.AppleQueso wrote: The 'twist' series ending was such a copout too.

Unfortunately they ran out of good ideas before they made the finale.Luke wrote:"it was time to quit. We were out of good ideas"

Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
I actually always thought Seinfeld's finale was rather appropriate. i'm in the minority there I know.
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
Really liked what I watched of this show, I hesitated starting it to for the same reasons. Need to finish out season 2 to see how it wrapped up.mjmjr25 wrote:Started Dollhouse last night.
