It's a painful experience to try and go back.
It's definitely all about perspective. I got the first game at release and thought it was phenomenal. Then the sequels came out, and the minor control enhancements really helped make it more fun. Going backwards is a different experience for sure. I went back last year and played the first game and still really enjoyed it. I still cannot beat the final boss. :(

I still find it hard to believe the Sega Master System lasted much longer than I thought it did. Case in point, even a few of the early NES Simpsons games made it onto the SMS. They were converted by some European outfit, and now they got chiptunes!!

Also realized a long time ago that the Game Gear was, hardware wise, a portable SMS. Sure enough, the early Simpsons games look exactly like they do on the SMS, except for the screen size of course. Same chiptunes!

As someone going into both franchises completely new last year, I thought the first Sly had aged incredibly well. The platforming and controls were great, I can't really say that about the first Ratchet.

I've heard the Sly sequels were longer. No idea though.

It was cool to see how similar Infamous felt after playing Sly though, coming from the same devs. I wonder if they use a similar or same engine, the platforming/climbing and all that felt really similar, and it's really good thankfully.

Well the only experience with both series I've had so far was demos when I was younger and various stores(especially at sam goody's which I miss those stores, since there's no fye near me ) and now having played and beaten thieves in time(which I do have to recommend to people it's fun as heck)

It is pretty close. The SMS has a bigger screen resolution but the GG has a slightly larger palette.

I think I just realized something, I'm almost done collecting for gc. I'm missing a few first parties(like zelda and maybe some random mario games) but besides that unless i see a deal on a hidden gem mine is almost complete for my standards. Just need to weed out some vhs's once I finish them to make room for what first party games, essentials, and few hidden gems I'm missing on my systems

Which could explain the higher quality (better-looking) games the GG received late in its lifespan.

In Brazil, the SMS got some ports that no 8-bit console should rightfully be able to pull off, like a shockingly capable Street Fighter 2 port, and bizarre ports of Sonic Blast and Mortal Kombat 3.

Bioshock: Infinite should have been named Booker: Catch!

Also, so far it's a far better game than the first but it seems far more linear and scripted. Not that the original wasn't. The areas just seem far smaller and directed. Super pretty game though.
