The first party games are the only reason to care about the Wii U at all. Unless someone enjoys shovelware or compromised ports.

I have already played through MK8 on a friend's Wii U, it's decent, but not something I'll play through again. I'll probably pick up BotW at some point. BotW's not a game I'm very excited about personally.

Bayonetta 2 and ZombiU are both third party, and they're both fantastic. ZombiU is FAR superior to the Zombi ports on PS4 and Xbox One.

Bayonetta 2 might as well have been a first party title:

"Would Bayonetta 2 not exist without Nintendo? The answer is yes," says Atsushi Inaba, executive director at Platinum Games. He tells Polygon that Nintendo, the sequel's publisher, was a key partner in getting the game made. "We are not viewing this as a change of platform," Inaba told Polygon in an interview at Tokyo Game Show. "We were looking for a partner to create Bayonetta 2 and Nintendo was a strong, cooperative partner that was willing to create and grow Bayonetta 2 together [with us]. As a result the platform became the Wii U."

Nintendo paid for Bayonetta 2's creation and aided Platinum Games in its development. Not exactly a third party production from a third party publisher as ZombiU was. Besides, ZombiU got ported to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. No one needs a Wii U to play it now.

Don't forget The Wonderful 101. But yes, the system's quality is mostly driven by top-notch first-party offerings.

ZombiU was built around the GamePad's extra screen and is all the more better on the Wii U because of it, adding an extra layer of immersion that is just not felt on other versions. I'd argue that immersion is imperative in supporting the enjoyment whilst playing it as a horror experience. I've played the game both on the Wii U and the PS4 and honestly it's a vastly superior experience on Wii U.

Edit: And I forgot to even mention the incredible multiplayer on Wii U, which was massively underrated and, again, built excellently on the idea of one player using the gamepad and the other using the television.

I am shocked that no one has mentioned Epic Dumpster Bear today.

That game rules, and it is one of many very good Wii U eShop exclusives.

Also, some of the early Ubisoft games for the Wii U are the best versions. The aforementioned ZombiU is one of them. Deus Ex, Rayman Legends, and Child of Light are others. (Exhuminator might want to play two of those on the Vita, however.)

Yeah I've got Child of Light on Vita already, and will get Rayman Legends for Vita. I don't personally have any interest in ZombiU or Wonderful 101.

Solid list! Only a few games different between our small libraries.

- Color Splash (Did play through this one)
- Star Fox (Never even considered this one, very curious to see what you think of it)
- Pikmin 3

+ Wonderful 101 (Its not THAT good, but its Platinum, and still fun)
+ Devil's Third ( 8) )
+ Super Mario Maker (I'm not the creative type, and I still find this well worth)
+ DKC Tropical Freeze

Make sure you get the version of Bayo 2 that comes with the first game. No familiarity with the pc port, but it is the best console version for sure.

I played Bayo 1 on Wii U then got it on PC. I didn't notice any issues with either version. Of course PC gives you more graphics options, but overall the game plays pretty much identically as far as I can tell. I still haven't tried Bayo 2 even though I have it alongside the first game on WiiU.
