Yeah, it irks me, too, but that's how it's stylized....BoneSnapDeez wrote:Dear lord the terribly random capitalizations and punctuations in those visual novel titles...

Re: Games Acquired 2017
Grabbed some crappy and not-so-crappy games.
Final Fantasy VIII (PSX) (GH) - complete - $6
RC Helicopter (PSX) - complete - free
Wizards & Warriors: Fortress of Fear (GB) - $6
FFVIII is ridiculously cheap, but I remember when it was pricier. Figure it might start edging back up in value eventually. The helicopter game was actually the wrong one that I was thinking about that I wanted to purchase back in the day, but it's not gonna hurt me as a freebie. And Fortress of Fear is... well, it ain't good, but my aunt had the game, so I have a little nostalgia for it.
Oh, and I bought the Gold Box D&D games (vol. 2) on GOG, and got a copy of Rebel Galaxy for my troubles. Will I ever seriously play them? Probably not. But the option is there!

Re: Games Acquired 2017
If prices are anything to go by and not being able to find New copies online, I believe Drakengard 3 is probably out of print. It seems like a gamble buy, sounds like it lacks technical polish and all that, but maybe I won't care. It's still directed by Taro Yoko and composed by Keiichi Okabe, and everything I've heard makes this game look and sound more like another Nier game. So I want to grab it before it gets more expensive.

Picked up the Krynn Gold Box games that I'll probably never get to.

Re: Games Acquired 2017
In my experience, Drakengard is like if Nier were really really badly paced with bad/uninteresting combat. At least the first one was. I've heard the sequels improve a bit on that formula, but it's still Drakengard at the end of the day. I hope you enjoy 3. 1 turned me off so much I won't touch the series with a 10-foot pole, connection to Nier or not XpXeogred wrote:$46.99

See that's the thing. The first two games look horrendous gameplay wise, like a bad Dynasty Warriors knockoff. But the third game plays more like Nier 1, which is a big plus to me. A single character ARPG kind of thing.PartridgeSenpai wrote:In my experience, Drakengard is like if Nier were really really badly paced with bad/uninteresting combat. At least the first one was. I should have mentioned in my post there, the stories/music of Drakengard are probably cool, but the games look terrible gameplay wise. I definitely have no interest in playing them. I'm hoping 3 is fine. The series seems to jump around a lot and with the loose connections to Nier, hopefully I won't be too lost.
I'm glad Nier Automata was successful and I'm absolutely loving it. Maybe it'll let Taro Yoko get to do bigger projects now and Square Enix can keep getting Platinum to develop his games.

Re: Games Acquired 2017
Drakengard literally came about because that team liked Ace Combat. They wanted to do Ace Combat but with a dragon. That may all've been well and good, but then they thought "Well, Dynasty Warriors is popular, so why don't we put in a ground combat element as well?" The problem is, the team clearly had no concept of what made either of those series fun to play. And so the well-written clusterfuck that Drakengard 1 was born :/
