Ouch, this month was a pricy one. Admittedly, I didn't spend most of this this month - I actually paid for Smash Bros, the Gamecube controller and the Mario Kart DLC last month but forgot to add them because I hadn't recieved any of them yet XD

This was a big month for me, as 3 of my most anticipated titles for the year came out within 8 days - Project DIVA F 2nd followed by Smash and Pokémon the week after.

The 3 games were all ordered from Shopto, as was the Gamecube controller. Because the controller was late, they gave me £5 credit to spend, which I haven't applied here. It's pretty nice to have though.

The Amiibo were from Amazon because they were cheapest. They look pretty cool and I'd like to collect them for display purposes mainly, but it's going to be expensive to get them all.

Grandia was acquired ahead of January's Together Retro. I splurged a bit to get one with the nicer cover art (instead of the ugly greatest hits one) but seeing as it also had free postage I doubt I paid more than £2 more than I would have anyway. The manual is really nice in this game too - full colour with tons of art work. I like it.

Next month should be a cheap month. Not only are there no major releases I want coming out, but between Christmas and my Birthday, I won't be wanting many either I imagine. I'll probably pick up one or two of the games I didn't get though.

This year's purchases have cost me WAY more than last years. Next year I need to get my spending in order I think.

Witch & The Hundred Knight is alright but has the most annoying characters ever.

Not to mention a stupid game title that everyone misspells.

Fixed! It is actually The Witch & The Hundred Knight!

I have read its mediocre reviews. Used copies of the game are relatively scarce, however, and old-fashioned ARPGs on modern systems are even rarer. Accordingly, I couldn't really turn it down.

I also forgot to mention that I found a used copy of FarCry Compilation (PS3; CIB) for $10. It had all the inserts, and I was happy to discover that no one had redeemed the voucher for Far Cry: Blood Dragon. Accordingly, I got both a neat compilation for my collection and a cool downloadable game for less than the downloadable game's retail price. I was very pleased.

Maybe I misunderstand your purchasing habits, but I thought you were someone keen on getting the best version of a game (barring PC ports)? These are both fine on the PS3 of course, but they are also both on or coming to PS4/Xbox One and, in the case of D3, was very comparably priced around Black Friday. I am surprised you wouldn't just hold off for those versions...unless you are itching to play them now or something?

prfsnl_gmr and I have similar gaming habits and I bet we'll both be getting a PS4 around 2017 or so.

Oh I get that...but I guess I don't get why you'd buy an "inferior" version of a game if you are fairly certain that one day you'll be getting the "superior" version for the same price or cheaper.

I guess to put it another way: I get that folks who stay a generation(ish) behind enjoy picking up games that came out years ago for a fraction of the cost. But, in the case of D3:UEE, that's a relatively new game that certainly doesn't fall into that "bargain bin" camp just yet...AND there's a better version of it that would likely be even cheaper for you when you do grab the PS4/Xbox One in 3 years or whatever.

It will be a while before I get a PS4, and I might not ever do so. (I still do not have a 360...) I am also planning on playing Diablo III very soon. (My wife and I had a great time playing through the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games, and I think we will enjoy playing Diablo III together as well.) Finally, I am also going to try to get through at least once of the "Souls" games next year (probably Demon's Souls), and since the first one is a PS3 exclsuive, I would want all of the "Souls" games on the PS3 at some point anyway. (I probably should have waited for a lower price on that one, however...)

Also, you are correct that I generally try to get the "best" version of a game, but I only consider the "best" versions for consoles I currently own. You are also correct that, as a general rule, I do not pay more than $10 or $15 for a game unless: (1) it is really great deal on a very rare game; or (2) I plan on playing it in the very near future.
