Awesome.

One reason why I never got into scrolling shooters is because of the one hit death thing a lot of them do.

Some tips:

Start on Easy (no shame in that with this game)

I highly recommend switching the control scheme to Y-fire, R-missile and X-A to switch weapons. It's just easier (for me anyway) to hold down Y and R to get the most out of your attack.

Plus I also recommend starting out primarily using the middle weapon, the throttle/side gun.

Look into Thunder Force. It's my favorite of the classic traditional ones, way above Gradius and R-Type. You still die in one hit but it's an instant respawn since you have a stock of lives, and you only lose powerups to the weapon you had selected.

At the same time, it can be just as hard as the two others though because it's a lot faster paced hehe.

3-4 have some of the best OST's on the Genesis.

Thunder Force 3 is pretty newbie friendly. Thunder Force 4 will break you.

Ziggy could maybe go with Thunder Spirits on the SNES too. I vastly prefer the Genesis version (this is a case where both games are very different though, so both are worth checking out). But yeah, it's the easiest probably and 3 definitely gets easy with a few powerups. It's definitely doable. 4 doesn't mess around in comparison heh.

I'd only recommend Thunder Spirits if you absolutely have to have it on the SNES. It's not bad, but it's inferior in pretty much every category.

I love the tunes and graphics in 4 but 3 is my favorite since it's so playable and there's probably some nostalgia involved.

Back on topic: Yeah Axelay is pretty sweet. I'm not the biggest fan of the Mode-7 levels and have trouble judging if I'm going to ram into something or not since it's flat but other than that it's a solid game with that classic Konami feel.

Well, your videos are short and to the point, show off gameplay almost entirely, take into account when they were released versus today, and examine exactly what it is about the game you like and dislike as well as your personal history with them. Plus, you're always pleasant, you don't have a lot of pauses or dialogue mishaps, I can hear and understand what you are saying, and you've shown on here you are more than willing to chat about games, accept criticism, and heed feedback. Plus, you ask us for suggestions, which gives us a bigger stake in your work.

So...yeah. You keep posting, I'll keep watching.

What Ack said. I'll just add that, of the games you review that I already know all about, I still love watching them just because your videos are so pleasant. If we agree on a game, it's a nice video to watch. If we don't, it's something to chat about. And also, there's some games here and there that I don't know about, like Axelay and all of your Steamdrunk videos, so I actually am your target audience for those.

Thanks guys, your feedback (and all the others here) is much appreciated and valuable. You guys all know your stuff, to say the least.

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas or requests? Bear in mind I've worked way ahead into July so it'd be a while before it'd get finished. (Videos for Batman SNES games, the sword and sorcery SNES beat-em-ups, a potential SNES Remix game idea and SNES games that deserve a 2nd chance are all coming up in the next few weeks.)

Maybe a video that covers the Super Scope? You could talk about the Super Scope itself, then review the compatible games (not a long list).

Specifically 4 players? Or anything that's more than 2 players? Like Secret of Mana being 3 players, or the later Super Bombermans being 5 players.
