Maybe I'll get out of work and hate the rest, who knows.
That's just the thing though, I think halo looks amazing. What it doesn't have in detail it more than makes up with one of the richest pallets in gaming. The game is VIVID. It is the anti-gears-brown-gray-hazey look. Then the more subtle things start to arise, the fact that master chiefs footsteps always hit the ground, and not the normal floaty look were used to in gaming, the better use of HAVOC that makes the physics actually interfere with game play, and then there's always the great particle effects. Halo may not be CRYSIS, it may not even really stand out technologically in any one crowd, but it does come together to make a unique product.

I think someone is a HALO fan. 8) The force is strong with this one. Yoda says, "Convincing people to change their minds about HALO you are not."

Your point? I'm discussing why I like the game. All because it's halo doesn't mean it's any different than somebody defending another title on the site. You're right though, I won't stop the random internet halo hating bandwagon.

Halo makes me want to vomit. And not just because it's an overhyped, overrated piece of mediocre, uninspired sci-fi trash with nothing good going for it besides an awesome theme song, but also because it gives me bad motion sickness.

In all the Halo arguments I've stumbled across on the net, not once has anyone bashing the game given a reasonable excuse as to why the game is bad. It's always the same thing, "overrated" and "over-hyped". If that's all they got to say, then it's clear they're just another chump on the Halo bashing bandwagon.

You know what the real "over-hyped" shit is these days in my opinion? All these supposed cult classics that the Halo bashers hold high. Games like Psychonauts, Odin Sphere and Disgaea are always being touted as "underrated", which essentially makes them "overrated" right? All three of those games sucked ass to me, but I don't bash them for them being propped up so high before playing them. I see the appeal and respect them, I just personally think they are shitty.

I'm just saying it goes both way with hype, and it shouldn't make a difference if a game is in the mainstream spotlight or not. Even underground games get their massive hype. Halo will just be the victim of all this until the internet decides to grow up.

Lighten up man. It's all opinion and preference. No need to go all technical on people. We respect your opinion and I hope you respect ours, but when you try that hard to defend a game, it just makes you look like a fanboy. Fanboyism is as dangerous as communism. Gotta keep an open mind like capitalism and free enterprise. HA HA HA.

(BTW, if you don't already know, then just know that I like to joke around a lot. Don't take me too serious or your feelings might get hurt or am I too late  )

The problem is, that aside from making me puke (see above), Halo has no glaring, obvious flaws. It just doesn't do anything great or fresh either. It is just a completely generic first person shooter series. Nothing about it is impressive or artistic or makes you think or feel anything. I've played a lot of FPSs in my time. It's definitely in my top 3 genres. Halo just doesn't do a good job of representing the genre.

Now hype is an important factor. You wonder why Halo takes so much heat? It's not very complicated. When half of the world says a game is the best thing ever, the other half is bound for disappointment. When they feel that disappointment, they must vent on the internet. If you're going to bitch about something mediocre, you look like you don't have much of a point, so you have to stretch it and say it's actually terrible.

At least we derailed the GTA thread. Go team!

But that's exactly what I'm talking about. We do people go as far to say Halo is "terrible" or "the worst game ever", when they simply feel it's so-so or just didn't live up to the hype? I understand the game has a sometimes rabid fan-base, but that's no reason to change one's opinion on the game.

Speaking oh which, I'm not sure I ever recall people running around screaming about Halo being the best thing ever. It usually happens like this: it gets reviewed with critical acclaim, people either buy it or they don't and then you have all the lovers playing it while all the haters bitch online. I believe all the "greatest game ever" stuff is just the perception of the people who end up not liking it.

Moz, you party pooper. Leave the boi alone. Look what you did. You made me think about GTA again. How about combining Halo and GTA. I think Halo is like GTA. They both didn't do anything new since the first revolutionary one. What they do with subsequent games, they do it well. They refine the formula and fix all the necessary problems to make it a better experience and that should count for something right. For new experiences in video games, just look somewhere else cuz you ain't gonna find it here.
