Made it to the 5th area tonight (actually called Area 4 IIRC). Only 17 metroids left to kill.

My only complaints about Samus Returns, are the inability to change wavebeam types with the select button, and the normal enemies are often too bullet-spongey for my liking. Other than that, still having a great time.

I've been listening to a lot of the OST and it's incredible. They got Kenji Yamamoto back but it looks like most of the work is actually done by new composer Daisuke Matsuoka. I'd have faith in this guy taking over, this just straight up sounds like the best Metroid OST since Prime 1. They completely missed the mark with Other M's ambient direction. Metroid should be haunting and melodic.

From what I can tell, the OST seems composed of past track selections from previous games, albeit remade/remixed. I'm not sure if I've heard any original material yet from a composition standpoint.

That grip makes the 3DS XL extremely comfortable to hold.

They also make one for the New 3DS XL:

I got that in the mail Saturday, bought it on ebay and this is a first, but the dude used Amazon shipping to mail it. Tracking threw me off. I just got done doing probably 2 hours on Metroid and my hands aren't hurting for it so that worked out perfectly. It does feel like a dual shock/pro controller style hybrid. I'm playing better too against metroids. I've got the meter down more and probably viewed 25% of Area 3 I'm guessing. I've seen 2 elevator shafts, grapple beam was the last thing I snapped up and then a 3rd aeion expansion (got a 3rd e-tank in area 2 I think it was before bailing on that.) Not yet come across one metroid in area 3 so I don't know, maybe it's overly huge. Thanks.

The OST is great although I am a little let down some tracks are literally just ripped from Metroid Prime.

Yeah it really did. I'd be more inclined to play some harder core stuff on there for longer than a usual handheld idea of time (15-60min) because of it. The hands don't slide around, the grip is comfy with no pain from bracing the beast, any of it. Kind of thinking looking back at some other options might not be a bad idea. GBASP I think had something of the sort, yet older non-L/R using GB/GBC never was an issue.

I've used grips for the DS Lite, PSP, Vita, my smartphone, and 3DS XL. Sure grips add size and bulk (not something everyone wants for a portable), but they make the ergonomics far more bearable for extended play. So if you need any suggestions for the aforementioned systems let me know.

I'm good, I don't have any of those. I've been getting rid of so much stuff down to what I really care to handle. All that's left is the Nintendo home consoles NES through GC + Switch and all things branded Gameboy, and then the SNK stuff (NGPC+arcade.)
