Isn't MAME still a headache in a half since they have no consideration of the end user consistently renaming and swapping working ROM set files. They did this for a good 10+ years or so as development went along and it drove people insane having to re-download massive ROM sets to get them all or what they needed out of it.
Nah, MAME is pretty easy now. Most of the ROM sets you find are already put together for the most recent releases anyhow, so it's going to be rare to find something that doesn't work. I know everything I've... obtained has worked just fine in MAMEUI.

Yes a complete very large download of all ROMs that I have seen. But what if you want just specific stuff? I couldn't find a modern set of Neo Geo stuff which is what it looks like I need so RetroArch will stop being a bitch about running my arcade cartridges.
The main problem with MAME ROMs is that they set the American/World versions as parent ROMs which leads to a lot of people playing broken, credit-muncher versions of games instead of the better balanced originals.

Interesting. Of course, I don't do a whole lot of emulation in RetroArch unless I have to. The UI leaves a lot to be desired, for one, and I'm pretty set in my ways on a lot of my emulators.
(In fact, I think my phone is the only place I really use it, and I don't emulate much there, either.)
