Has anyone ever played Amazing Island here? Is it any good?
I have. Despite it being it an exclusive, it's not a very good one. It tries to be a monster battling game, but it's really quiet generic. I played it for a few hours and just couldn't get into it. I'd be open to others people's opinions, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Dave, I'm quite upset you for sniped Crystal Chronicles from Noise! :-P

Phantasy Star Online Ep I & II on GameCube has 2player split-screen co-op. If this doesn't make the list, I will hold my breath until I pass out and hit my head on something.

Umm... isn't PSO 1&2 Plus on the list?

I just don't want him to take it off the list. If I pass out and hit my head on something I'll probably hold a grudge.

Reminding you of co-op, or holding his breath until he losses consciousness?

I played Amazing Island and I also mimic Blu's sentiment. They used a creation engine similar to games like Magic Pengel and Graffiti Kingdom on the PS2 and it doesn't even compare. You can draw monsters and give them abilities, but then apply them to a series of unfun mini-games. I wish it was better, as I love Magic Pengel and Graffiti Kingdom and find them to be truly entertaining and creative games, but it is just not happening.

Excellent post, as usual.
Thank you!
mjmjr25 wrote:Again the idea is what would be on your GCN shelf if limited to 30 games.

With that; my top 30 for GCN and my top 30 for Wii U would both have Windwaker. My top 30 for GCN and for Wii would both have RE 4.

There is enough differences (to me) that I enjoy them as different experiences.
I understand your point, and I agree that they are different experiences. If I could have only 30 GC games on my shelf, however, I would still try to pick ones that weren't available elsewhere. (Thankfully, I do not live with this horrible limitation; so, I can the same game on as many platforms as I like. )

.....

Here are my thoughts on the honorable mention/more discussion games:

Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction - This game is better on the Xbox. It does not belong on the list.

Ikaruga - There are multiple, better, more definitice versions of this game. It is the GC's premiere shmup, however; so, I can see leaving it on the list.

Baten Kaitos Origins - I have not played this yet. No comment.

Super Monkey Ball - I think that this game belongs on the list because it is the first game in the SMB series; it plays best on the GC; and if you have it, you don't really need any of the other games in the SMB series. (The gameplay does not change that much...)

Super Monkey Ball 2 - Again, if you have the first game in the SMB series, you don't really need the sequel.

Sega Soccer Slam - This game is better on the Xbox. It should not be on the list.

Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes - IMO, this is the best version of the best game in the MGS solid series. It should be on the list.

Viewtiful Joe - This game should be on the list. It is excellent, and the GC version is the best version.

Alien Hominid - I adore this game, and it is one of my favorite GC games. It did receive an HD port, however; so, I am no longer sure it is the definitive version.

Billy Hatcher - I have not played it. No comment.

Zelda Windwaker - This is one of the GC's vwery best games. IMO, the WiiU version has rendered it obsolete, but the GC experience is different enough to merit inclusion. Accordingly, I understand leaving it on the list.

Pacman Vs. - This game was designed by Shigeru Miyamoto, and it is an excellent twist on a classic game. IMO, it belongs on the list.

Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee - Despite the "Only on Gamecube" label on its insert, this game received a superior Xbox port. Moreover, later games in this series are better and have more features. Accordingly, I would not include this game on the list.

Beach Spikers - This is a quality Sega arcade port, and it is exclusive to the GC. I can see including it. (But I also think we should include some of the EA Sports games with Nintendo characters.)

Starfox Adventures - I haven't played it. No comment.

Beyond Good and Evil - I have read that the GC and Xbox versions of this excellent game are matched. There is now an HD version, however; so, I am not sure it belongs on the list.

Lost Kingdoms - I haven't played it. No comment.

Lost Kingdoms 2 - I haven't played it. No comment.

Skies of Arcadia Legends - This is the best version of a classic JRPG that consistently makes "best games of all time" lists. It would be a crime not to include it. (It would only be an infraction, but still, a crime.)

Tales of Symphonia - The HD port makes the GC version obsolete.

Animal Crossing - I have only played with this a bit, and I don't have much experience with the series. No comment.

IDK, to me, Skies of Arcadia will always be a DC RPG.

Don't worry, noise. I'm fairly confident that PSO will make the cut.

PSO I & II does NOT deserve a place on this list.

Let's get some votes against it, folks. Both games are far better on Xbox (graphics) or PC (connectivity) today. No reason to play it on GCN with the shit controller.
