Yeah, wheres the damn old people??!! Marginalized once again! And when they show old people, they are all feeble and decrepit, or cranky, or forgetful. All old people are senile ya know...AppleQueso wrote:Ha ha look at those silly people, wanting to see more women and non-white people represented in games. What's next? children and old people? Shenmue II had kick ass old people who mastered the art of Tai Chi! Ahead of its time! And it had black rastafarians that could kick in the original....so take that!

Ubisoft's excuses for why there are no female assassin's in AC: Unity were pathetic and hypocritical. I think someone totaled up that there were more severed heads in presentations than female leads. That's pretty lame.

No, I am being a bit over the top for sake of humor, but what I am saying isn't too far off. Why couldnt there be more old people leads? I am sure they are statistically under represented as well.AppleQueso wrote:I do hope you realize how much of a complete ass you are being.
I dont see how what I am saying makes me anything close to being a complete ass... really?

You're trying to paint representation as this flippant, ridiculous, unrealistic demand. Don't act like you aren't.

Sarcasm noted, but I never said I was looking for it but it was a pleasent surprise and one of the factors on why I favored Nintendo's E3 showing compared to others. Splatoon did look to be children and that also added charm. Why not have elderly leads too? That would also be welcomed. Playing as an aging Nathan Drake doesn't sound cool? It worked out OK for Solid Snake. I could totally get into and aged Samus where you find out at the end she was in her 60's when she removes her mask. Kinda like a homage to the first Metroid.Jmustang1968 wrote:When I watched the pressers, I did not see enough children or elderly as leads, I was very disappointed.

Nope, that is putting words in my mouth. Representation social justice is always very selective. I was being flippant, but never said it was unrealistic or necessarily ridiculous. Cases could be made for a lack of elderly leads when they make up a large portion could they not? I guess for someone who's main focus is on how the gameplay is and such, I dont care much how the main characters are represented.AppleQueso wrote:You're trying to paint representation as this flippant, ridiculous, unrealistic demand. Sure let Ubisoft have female leads, thats fine. The only things I have heard about that game has been vocal anger for no female leads.
Many gamers I think are just apathetic to it.

Re: Who Won E3 2014?
The most recent Ubisoft game I played not only had a female lead, but a minority one at that:
I remember this one too:
Very recently Ubisoft developed and published this:
There are other examples, but I'll stop there. Ubisoft might not do it often, but they certainly do use female leads in their games from time to time.

Even better, why not make each and every game the exact same? If there are ten people in a game, five must be men and five must be women. Then, each gender must have one of each ethnicity (free of all accents, hair styles, and stereotypical facial features, of course). Naturally, everyone will wear the same generic clothing and have similar ethics and personal values, the same religion, and use appropriate language. All characters must have a "normalized" amount of sex appeal (not too sexy, not too off-putting) and things like make up and slang are not to be included. Just like in real life.AppleQueso wrote:Ha ha look at those silly people, wanting to see more women and non-white people represented in games. What's next? children and old people?
