I think most people will find at least somewhere between 50 and 100 games they really like on the SNES.

I'm glad I got my SNES games when I did anyway. I don't think I'd bother collecting for the console in today's market. Snagging some of the rarer titles as their more common Super Famicom version certainly helps.

Well and i'm probably not even going to try until next month to really start getting many more games for it unless I can grab them for cheap at the flea market this weekend. Some of those are just too dang expensive to let me get the quantity of games I need for my collection especially since almost all of them aren't in the "unknown" or "obscure" range right now.

BOOM!

Some folks may question a few of these, but you said good, not great. I did not consider whether other consoles had better versions of some of these, and it is all based on my subjective opinion. That said, I also hardly considered sports games, and there is more than likely a few games that I missed, so this list could be expanded. The SNES has a lot of really cool stuff hidden in its library. There's also a lot of garbage, yes, but finding the chaff is also part of the fun! Oh, and please pardon the genre clumps.
I'll accept that list, but it certainly doesn't make me re-question my "to get" list. Many I have for genesis, others in genres I don't like. But if a SNES was someone's only system, or they owned over 300 snes games, I would not assume that the majority are crap. Which was kind of why I asked the question. You said you had beaten over 140 of them, and I imagined beating your next 140 might be a joyless endeavor.

Oh, not at all. Actually that list is of some of the best, but not of what I own or have beaten. Yes, I've beaten quite a few good games in that 140. I've also beaten a fair amount of crap, like Lester the Unlikely, Brutal: Paws of Fury, and Pit-Fighter. There is quite a bit more quality gameplay for me to look forward to.

That said, the SNES has a large body of games, many of which are of decent to high quality even if they are in genres we don't all enjoy or have better versions on other consoles. Honestly, I suspect that is why so many people are exploring it now. Seeing the number of quality games also makes me take greater interest in the Sega Genesis, where I wonder if it too has such a large proportion of games I'd consider above the arbitrary line of quality.

Snag Super Famicom games over their SNES counterparts no matter if they're rare or not, I wouldn't even go for SNES games at all with a handful of exceptions. Even with shipping from Japan it's still cheaper to collect for the Super Fami overall.

Attitudes like this are great - it leaves more SNES for me to find!

Agreed! The more folks move to Super Famicom games, the higher the price goes for those, while the more likely the price will drop for SNES games.

I typically only buy Super Famicom games if there is no North American equivalent. So many good Japan-only RPGs...
