I was playing the snes version of VI on my psp... but it has some slowdown and the music suffers from it. Maybe i'll just switch to the oxbox or the ps1 version of the game.

If you hate the slowdown then stay FAR away from the Ps1 port.

Rastan on Commodore 64.

I have not beaten the game because it is literally impossible. The programmers included a pitfall that simply can't be cleared. Guess this game was never tested! Here's a video of someone finishing the game using cheats:

It's all a moot point anyway, I couldn't get past the first level. The controls are horrible! I really dig Rastan, but damn this is one of the worst ports known to man. Cool soundtrack though.

July update!:

Key:Red = Completely given up, Black = Intending to finish

Nintendo Land Wii U
Blaster Master Wii VC
Scribblenauts DS
Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins PSP
Aero Porter 3DS eShop
Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS
StreetPass Garden 3DS eShop
StreetPass Mansion 3DS eShop
Tomb Raider PS1

Games off the list: Bubble Bobble
Games on the list: Tomb Raider, StreetPass Garden, StreetPass Mansion, Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Oops, forgot to update this last month, so this is two months of progress.

StreetPass games and Animal Crossing are just a matter of time - they won't be quick to finish. Tomb Raider is in progress for Summer Game Challenge.

Not sure if any of them will come off the list this month, but I'm hoping to take out at least one of the StreetPass games.

I think the only reason so many people played that game is that it was one of the only decent options at launch.

WTH, how come the bad guys don't have to jump over the gaps?

The game has no rules!

A shame too, because I generally love C64 arcade conversions.

Back to the topic at hand, I tried my damn hardest to beat the Master System versions of Golden Axe and Altered Beast last night. Couldn't get very far in either. Altered Beast has absolutely horrendous controls - you press both action buttons at the same time to jump! Golden Axe was just slow and choppy. After a while I figured out I could exploit the slowdown/choppiness to get in some cheap hits, but I still ended up with a game over.

I don't know if I'll be finishing Killer is Dead. The reviews were right on the money with this one. The game is one of the most mediocre games I've ever played. Everything from the characters, to the story, to the combat is bland and boring. The graphics are ugly as sin. This doesn't even look like a current gen title. It's like an ugly, early PS 2 game. EVerything just looks drab, dull and undetailed. The level design is awful, sometimes leaving you completely clueless about where to go or what to do next. Not to mention some stages are so ridiculously repetitive. The music is forgettable, not a single track has stuck in my head.

The game just has no soul, no heart. It's just sort of there. Hard to believe this is a Suda 51 game. I never would have thought he could make something so generic. This game feels half assed in every way. The only decent thing about it is some of the boss battles, one of which was a very cool and imaginative dream sequence battle. And the Gigalo mini game is fun for like the first time you play it, then it gets old. It's not as offensive as people make it out to be. It's too comical to be offensive, but it does get repetitive quick, which sums up much of the game really. It's not chock full of surprises like Lollipop Chainsaw was.

Levels are just a series of same old, same old fights which all consist of you blocking, evading an attack at the last minute, mashing the X button while you're in slow mo, rinse and repeat until enemy is dead. Yawn. I actually hate the way the game over emphasizes defense and evasion. It never really allows you to get offensive because every enemy likes to block your attacks, and using a guard breaker just leaves you open for some dick to hit you in the back or attack you from offscreen since the camera never keeps track of everything leaving you fighting blind unless you're constantly readjusting the damn thing. Your attack power is shit too. I have my katana maxed out and it's still ridiculous how many hits it takes to kill something. One perfect evade followed by a flurry of attacks should down most grunts, but rarely does. Oh, and you can't lock on to anything either. You just can't do anything cool in this game. Lollipop Chainsaw had Nick tickets, combos that could kill a group of enemies at once for a big Sparkle Hunt bonus, an instant stun attack, a super bar you could use for temporary invincibility and instant decapitations, a cool slam attack, a vault over move, the chainsaw blaster, dash attacks, drop kicks to knock enemies away, a move that let you mash X to slice a dude in half, etc, etc, etc. Killer is Dead just has perfect evade, mash X, perfect evade, mash X, perfect evade, mash X. The combat is more shallow than Lollipop Chainsaw, which may come as a shock to people who hated that game's combat. You could argue that Killer is Dead is more technical since it rewards perfect timing, but it just gives you so much less to work with offensively than Suda's last game. It's just boring.

Such a dull game, inferior to Lollipop Chainsaw in pretty much every way I can think of. I can't even believe this game is from the same guy who made that. And while I wasn't a huge fan of Shadows of the Damned, it was better than this mediocrity. Suda 51 has lost it with this game. This is his jump the shark moment

I've seen people beat Blaster Master without having their gun maxed out, but I've never been able to beat the game without being nearly flawless. I usually spend the first fifteen minutes of the game building my gun up and praying I don't get hit.

If you have any tips on the Crab boss, let me know as he's the one that gives me the most trouble.

I really wish you could beat Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back on the 2600. I still enjoy this game from my childhood, but you never get anywhere.
