Ill pm you my choices right now. I'll post them here as well for everyone to ponder over:

Thunder Dragon 2/Big Bang
Rapid Hero
Gunnail

All NMK goodness. I left out Zed Blade because I think its their most well-known shooter, and even though its awesome I think these push to my top 3 by them.

Exed should be happy to hear that these are not bullet hell shooters!

Well, I wanted to have a central theme in my choices, whether it be games all from a single developer or I also was thinking of companies' swansongs (Batsugun, Vasara 2, etc.) and I've come up with my worst idea yet...

A MONTH IN KOREA!!!

That's right! :D With all the Japanese games we'll be playing, I'm going strictly Korean for my month! Make an event out of it! Order some Korean take-out. Maybe find a market in your area that sells some Korean candy to munch on while you blast away!
here we go...

Dooyong's Blue Hawk (1993)
Semicom's Baryon - Future Assault (1997)
Skonec's Homura (2003)

My month's theme is "Fuck you for trying to emulate this: The MAME-free month"

Nice. I'm looking forward to seeing what you chose with that theme in mind

I did the same thing, except mine was even more limiting: NES shmups all the way!

Just a few thoughts...
I don't and won't Mame and I'm sure there are others. I wouldn't mind participating but I owned exactly 0 of the games that made the list last year. Based on the few nominations I've seen so far it looks like I'll own maybe 1, if I'm lucky. You guys want more people to participate you're going to need to come up with SHMUP's that the common and poor/frugal retro gamer like myself actually owns. However, maybe you don't want more people, in which case continue the way you are and have fun with it.

What is your reasoning behind refusing to play games in their original format?

However, maybe you don't want more people, in which case continue the way you are and have fun with it.

I can assure you wanting less participants is not a factor in the club's decision to use MAME, and I'm rather confused as to why you think it would be.
