Ok, I'm holding them against the light. Now what do I do?
Stare at the light until your eyes get real dry and start to hurt. If you start feeling like they might bleed you are almost there.

Also while you're doing that look for little pinholes of light.

Look for pinholes of light coming through.

The fun thing about disc rot in 32 bit era games is that half the time, the care you take of the games does not matter. Since the manufacturing of games was outsourced, the quality of the press is literally only as good as the factory in Mexico or wherever the game was made.

A lot of games were printed on substandard CD's to reduce the cost. There are games out there that have never been opened that have disc rot simply because the industry, freed from having to use proprietary cartridges, did not think to regulate the quality of the discs being used.

The more you know.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Uh...

You do realize that it still sells for a pretty hefty amount, right?
I figured it would be worth nothing now that it's available on Xbox Live. It's the reason I don't have Ikaruga for the Dreamcast. Well, I do have the Gamecube version but that version is completely worthless.
Ha, if only.

Taking a look at ebay completed listings, Ikaruga for gamecube is still worth 20-30 bucks. Yeah, it used to sell for way more, but 20-30 bucks is hardly what I'd call "worthless". Dreamcast version still sells for 50-60 bucks.

Radiant Silvergun though? Only sold copy in ebay's completed listings right now sold for $115.
