Guys, regardless of one's views on homosexuality or homosexual marriage, please do not use this as an opportunity to question other forum members' sexuality for the purposes of insult or humor.
Wow. It's not like there are so many problems in the world. Wasting time debating and passing laws so the religious nuts can be bigger dicks towards gay people is obviously something that should be on the top of the agenda. More proof that western civilization is past its peak, and we are in a downward spiral like the one that lead from Ancient Greece and Rome to the middle ages.
The stupid people are reproducing too much.

I am curious when you think the peak was? I have a hard time finding any because every generation has stupid people, just stupid in a different way.

Yes, yes churches should have the right. Should the government decide who can get married? Hells no. Privatize marriage!
I think a religious institution should be able to deny performing marriage rites to a couple if it violates their religious teachings. But a marriage ceremony in a church is window dressing on top of the legal state of marriage which should not be denied to anyone. You can very easily become legally married at the courthouse or hold a civil ceremony if you want the trappings of a ceremony.

There's a lot of statistics that show this to be true. The intelligent people are too busy having careers and evaluating their ability and willingness to have kids.

To all of those who feel that marriage isn't a right in the United States, you're wrong. I'm not saying I disagree with your opinion (because it's not an opinion anymore, and I DO disagree with you anyway), I'm saying it's a fact that you're wrong. The Constitution dictates what is and is not a right, and the Supreme Court is the only body that determines what the Constitution does and does not say and mean. The Supreme Court has said that marriage is a right (as I said two pages ago, see the the very aptly named 1967 SCOTUS decision Loving v. Virginia). Therefore, it is a right in the United States. Ergo, you're wrong. Like it or not (you don't have to like it; I don't like that corporations are apparently people now), but marriage is, in fact, a right.

Not necessarily... The problem arises in that marriage has traditionally been defined as a union of male and female. So while the supreme court says marriage is a right, they would have to change their definition or concept of marriage for it to apply in a homosexual relatonship.
