Performance and graphics. The console version apparently becomes nearly impossible due to framerate at some points. I haven't played the console versions so I can't really say whether that will or wont break the game for you. Sounds like it only does it in a few key areas.o.pwuaioc wrote:You playing with a 360 controller? I'm tempted, but I don't have one. Also, why should I get it on PC and not PS3 or 360? I don't own either of those consoles, but I assume I will one day.

I've never played it all, but $7.50 is cheap.
What happens now that GFWL is dead? Is Dark Souls still playable?

If you like video games get it.noiseredux wrote:it's on sale for $7.50 thru Amazon. Should I get it?flex wood wrote: And if its a bad port will noise become a PC gamer?
I'd say get it for ps3 though just because then I can get status updates on your level and where you are in the game and constantly invade. Good times.

It's a great game, but don't feel dirty about using a walkthrough or guide - this game is very difficult without one.

One of the things I love most about these games is how they are designed to be community based. The player is pretty much supposed to rely on talking (or playing) with others to discover secrets and techniques as a community. A walkthrough or looking up information is definitely fair play, especially if you are trying to 100% it.Retrogamer0001 wrote:It's a great game, but don't feel dirty about using a walkthrough or guide - this game is very difficult without one.
edit:
This is definitely not true, people just like to blow things out of proportion. There are some areas in the game with nasty framerate drops, but there isn't anything in crucial areas or boss fights or something that makes the game "nearly impossible". Really, it's completely a non-issue and just kind of annoying in 2-3 places.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:The console version apparently becomes nearly impossible due to framerate at some points.

That is really cool, and interesting.brunoafh wrote: One of the things I love most about these games is how they are designed to be community based. The player is pretty much supposed to rely on talking (or playing) with others to discover secrets and techniques as a community.
It's not my personality. I'm just not a completionist gamer. If I were to get into Dark Souls, I'd just be aiming atA walkthrough or looking up information is definitely fair play, especially if you are trying to 100% it.

Re: Dark Souls making its way to PC!
Actually forget what I said about getting it for console, you should definitely get it for PC at that price since it comes with the dlc that you would have to pay extra for on a console.

My understanding is the areas where the framerate tanks on the consoles it also tanks on the PC. The only real benefit to the PC version is the high-res patches.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Performance and graphics. The console version apparently becomes nearly impossible due to framerate at some points.
